  1. Two weeks before my Great Grandma passed, she said she would be seeing my Aunt, who had passed away several years before, on my Aunts Birthday. Every time we would go see her she would tell us this in the following days. On my Aunts birthday, she told us she had talked to her and they were going to meet a 4:00 that day. She passed away at 3:50 that afternoon. I'll never forget that. Nurse KitKat, I also know several nurses and aides that will crack open a window when they think someone is going to pass on their shift to let the spirit out. I've also seen some tie a knot in the bed sheet so the patient wont pass on their shift....don't know if it works, but they seem to think it does.
  2. smoo, Here is a few links that may help you. http://home.sc.rr.com/nurdosagecal/ http://www.testandcalc.com/quiz/index.asp http://www.nurseweek.com/calculators/index.asp http://www.manuelsweb.com/nrs_calculators.htm Hope these help you out :)
  3. My sister, who was about 4 at the time, stuck a peanut up her nose while at my aunts house. I'll never forget when my aunt called my dad at work to tell him my sister had done this and she couldnt get it out. My dad and my aunt finally got the peanut out of my sisters nose after about a hour of trying to fish it out with a crochet hook. My sister has yet to live that one down and she's 16 now!!

  5. Hi Phil, There was a post about Morgellons on here a few months ago. I tried to find it for you, but couldn't locate it. I looked at a few websites on msn that was just dedicated to morgellons and it seems to be a real disease and not a joke. According to what I read, the only correlations between the people that have Morgellons is that one time or another they all had limes disease. Hope this helps you out. Elyse
  6. Thanks for everyones reply. It's been pretty hard to find time to reply. I was in Lakeland Colleges program and missed passing a class by a 10th of a point and was told I could go back next year and do it all over again, but I'm ready to find a different school now. I've heard some really good things about Kaskaskias program and just wanted some more comments. Thanks again!
  7. Just wanting to know if anyone is attending or has attended these colleges for thier nursing classes and what they are/were like. Any info helpful-Thanks!
  8. I'm not sure what state you are in, but in Illinois you can take a semester long class and then the state test and become a cna. Many people that complete the cna course, have passed the test, and work as a cna can get out of some of the nursing courses, which can make your life easier. I hope this helps:)
  9. Our instructors tell us to glove the non dominant hand when giving injections and keep a etoh pad in between the fingers just incase we get a bleeder. But as far as that goes, I always glove whenever theres a chance I will be in contact with blood or bodily fluids. I'd rather be safe than sorry
  10. My mom lives about 30 mile from work and always seems to make it in through the snow and ice. We live in the country and there is no city roads for about 10 mile from us. We have no one to plow the roads. I found it funny last year we had a pretty big snow and my mom made it in, but there was a about 4 girls she worked with that lived 2-5 blocks from work and called in because the roads were too bad. Gotta love us country folks
  11. I can't believe the administration would rather their resident’s sit in their own urine/feces and try to eat a meal, along with others around their table, and feel that it's ok to do that. Obviously they have never had an accident while out shopping or going about their daily routines and know the embarrassment these people feel when this happens. They can't help it, when nature calls you got to do what you got to do, either ask for help to go or just go right there. Which I think would bring up a contamination issue...just my opinion.
  12. Thanks for the ideas guys! They are going to be a really good help! I thought about the glitter thing, but I have to check with the schools before we go in and make a mess... I've tried to find pictures for them to color to make a coloring book but I'm not having to much luck. I just found out that the local Wal Mart donated a bunch of those little travel sized hand sanitizers for our group to hand out. sounds like this could be fun !
  13. I am in the nursing club at my college and we have to do a community service project. Our project is to go into either preschools or kindergarten to first grades to teach about hand washing. My question is how you go about teaching young children that hand washing helps kill germs and spread diseases with out getting to technical. What would be the best way of going about it? A puppet show? Coloring books maybe? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance!:)
  14. The other night I caught an old episode of CSI and the "case" on there was drinking her urine to save her youthful appearance, as suggested by some doctor on the show.- according to my instructor, alot of people do drink their own urine for some old wives tail they have heard.
