Is it really a disease, or are they deluded? Who knows?
It sounds like OSU is taking this seriously if they are willing to commit funds to this research.

I didn't get to see the Primetime special last night but since I live in Tulsa, our local news had a big segment on it during the 6pm news. They have had forensic analysis of the "threads" and say there is no way the patients could have implanted them in themselves because the skin is intact with no signs of previous breaking and no good way for a pt to put a thread in their own skin this way. It seems very weird, but OSU is a reputable school, so I'm sure there is something to it.
I would be interested in hearing from our fellow nurses in Texas, Louisiana, California and Florida where this seems to be more prevalent. Is anyone seeing this in the ER's or Doctor's offices?
As far as I understand, from what I've read, Louisiana hasn't really been affected by this hellish disease. I hope it stays that way....
