what should you do? enjoy your summer with your friends and family so you'll be in a relaxed frame of mind to start school. there's no point/no reason for you to start studying now. you'll have plenty of that to do later.

Congratulations! Ok, get your list of school stuff needed and then try it all on and strut around for a while. CPR certification for healthcare providers, and ... do you do TB testing through the school or can you get it done from your primary care provider? Better to wait until they let you know.
How's that for a start?
edited to delete "make sure your vaccinations are all up to date" She's already got it done.

this. you are about to enter a world consumed by nursing. you are understandably excited but trust me....use this time to relax. save money for massages during school. spend time with your family and friends and get them ready for what is to come....which will basically mean a lot less contact with you. just enjoy your summer. congrats on getting in. its a wild ride.

The Summer between my first and second semester of Nursing School (I had a January start date) I took some summer session classes with courses that didn't require intense concentration. I used my (long) classroom hours to study my Nursing91 (yes, it was a while ago folks) drug handbook. I learned so much, including the important aspect of learning which meds were in which general category (NSAIDs vs. opiods, loop diuretics vs. thiazide vs. osmotic diuretics). I even started to pick up how drug names can clue you into their general category (-olol for those beta-blockers).
This was very useful not only for nursing school, but to my nursing career in general.

Hopefully you were provided with a list of required supplies. What I did leading up to the start of school was pretty much go completely through my calculations book. That way, I already knew what I was doing in that regard & it turned out for us that we had to take & pass a calculations test within the first few weeks of each semester with a minimum passing grade. Some people really struggled with the type of questions, but I had no problem. Also, some of the instructors were very confusing when trying to teach it so it helped that I already had it figured out on my own. As far as any other studying, you're given so many textbooks, there's no telling what area you might start in. You might browse through your skills book, but I wouldn't do too much hardcore studying yet; you'll get plenty of that later!

Relax. If you don't have an exercise habit or something for stress relief, I suggest you pick it up. Other than that, really...you will do fine.

Congratulations! Enjoy you're summer. Do you have a book list yet? I would not read anything ahead, but one of my classmates discovered 2 days before a test she didn't have the required text and it was out of stock at the bookstore.

Starting NS is like boot camp at least it was where I attended college for my ADN, now I am working on my BSN online. Take a deep breath and study like there is no tomorrow and you will prevail. I wish you the best of luck, dream big, believe in yourself and have a study buddy. It will go by fast your head will swim.
