Hey everybody.. Just got my OFFICIAL acceptance letter for my ADN program that starts in late August in Fayetteville, NC. Medical exam and immunizations are done. Uniforms ordered and embroidered. Registered for classes. What do u all suggest I do to prepare myself more?? I'm so excited and I feel like I should be doing SOMETHING!!! What are some important things i may need to purchase.. Anything... Suggestions!?!?
Trying to relax is easy to say but hard to do with you're Type A!
THIS. I don't start my BSN program until the end of August and I am already working on my to-do list, which is a mile and a half long. I think I'm gonna get a med terms book from the library, but I believe they give us some online health care modules to complete before the program starts too. Nothing like homework when you're not even in school yet!

Although I do like these (the notecards, not the notebooks), I've found that a good portion of each isn't particularly useful while other parts are VERY useful. The parts that I find particularly useful also happen to be in various places on the internet for free (mnemonics discussions on AllNurses, images from cards on sites like tumblr and Pinterest). If money's going to be tight, you may want to take a looks at these (as well as the Davis Notes flip-book pocket guides) and just keep them in mind until you get going in school.
If you pop into your local Barnes & Noble to look at the Mosby notecards (and the Davis Notes series), you could also take a peek at the Pearson (formerly Prentice Hall) Reviews & Rationales book series by Mary Ann Hogan and the Davis Success series. Not to buy, but just to compare say the "fundamentals" version of each so if you decide you need more NCLEX practice questions, you'll already have an idea of which series you liked better. And why not take a look at NCLEX review books. So far, Saunders is my favorite. It's split up by topic so you can use it like a mini (less expensive) version of the Davis Success or Pearson's R&R series.
There are at least two or three other threads where people have posted specific suggestions for those of us who can't "just relax" :)
