  1. there are three picks to choose from on the essays..can't tell you exactly on this fourm..
  2. buy yourself a darn good planner Congrats to your admission 2 nursing school
  3. in the interview i had when i had applied to them the school that they were accepting credits from was a cuny school, it was either york or queensboro. ( but that was a while ago, seems was though there were a lot of changes. be sure to check it out.
  4. try suny alfred state..great college..their online a&P 1 and 2 class doesn't show up on your transcript as a online class, just a regular a&P class.
  5. hi to all on the board: I would like to know who said that there is a nursing shortage? I have been an lpn for 25 years..Most of the hospitals that are hiring are hiring nurses that have at least 2-3 years experience to start. even most nursing agencies won't hire most people without 1 years experience. Yes, nurses do retire but because of hard times right now more of them are holding on to their jobs..Listen to the radio, read the newspapers..Even the NYSA is out there marching and protesting about vast changes in their contracts. Hospitals and clinics are closing or are on the verge of closing..Patients will move on to another hospital . Hospital management have been thought to do more with less staff. Even the facility where i am employed ,when they do hire someone wants someone who has some experience. then there are places where other title staff can do the job that nurses use to only do back in the day..MSTs' PCAs' management hires these staff members so they can free up the nurse for other duties, but when you look at the whole scope of things they may need you the nurse less. even nursing supervisor titles in some places are being dropped down to head nurse or even down to staff nurse..they have to accept this if they want to keep their jobs..LOOK at the amount of people graduating from ADN schools and passing their state broads..I heard one of my supervisors say that she has so many applications for employment that she doesn't know what to do.ITs"very hard out there rite now..I would never thought that it would be so hard for a nurse to get a job. GOOD LUCK to all of those out there.
  6. hi.. thank you so very much for your organized help..i went to a nursing info 7/14 at wcc and was told that to be accepted into their program you have to get high 80's into 90's on the teas v exam. your info will help a great deal..their test isn't until march 2012..i will take the teas study guide, your info and break it down chapter by chapter, and study, study, study. thank you so very much.
  7. hi i see nothing wrong with a person who had previously taken and passed microbiology or anatomy and physiology 1 or 2 whosed credits have gotten old..taking an online class..at least they already have had the classroom and lab experience..
  8. i applied to the school in december 2010..passed the 2 exams..was told that there will be a committee meeting about acceptaces into the nursing program..Now its almost April 2011 and i am still waiting to hear anything from the school..sometimes i wonder about st pauls..plus there are other things mentioned on this site.that makes me wonder
  9. if you had already taken a&p 1and2, microbiology class in a classroom setting and you are trying to retake classes to raise your grade point average..i see nothing wrong with taking science classes online. you already have the basics down.. if your school already accepted your classes more power to that program and to you..
  10. well said..well said..i am an lpn 2..very well said. nursing school isn't the real world..working as a nurse is..nursing school is hard and very hard to get into. keep your head up, study hard and keep on moving on.
  11. at my place of employment, they are slowly getting rid of the phlebotomists pcas' do their jobs now..when people take these courses they should do deep research, there are so many schools pumping out students in so many different courses, every semester/year, take out heavy loans and can't find a job afterwards.
  12. believe me, i work with some of those b students..one actually told me that the only reason why 3/4 of his graduating class went into nursing is because they heard that nursing was a job, where you can't get laid off.
  13. i work for hhc, i'd like to know where did you find out that inf0rmation about nurses retiring at the end of the year. i have been working as a lpn for almost 25 years...i do know this..new grads who have a associate degree are the ones who have the hardest times getting a job..if you have a bsn, most of the hospitals want at least 3-5 years experience in nursing..a lot of hospital do not have the money to do a great deal of orientation that a new nurse needs..look at what is going on in nursing..hospitals are closing..even other titles are being trained to do the work that nurses do..mst.pca. there are some places where a cna takes a course and is allowed to give out medication..they are called med techs..the face of nursing has changed greatly. What it comes down to is the all mighty dollar..medicaid and medicare reinbursements are low. hospitals are trying to do more with less..even less staff. i am not saying that grads won't eventually get a job, its that its not what it appears to be.look on this site, do your research.its not so easy.
  14. thank you for answering..its for the queens campus.
  15. hi does anyone know when they stopped accepting applications..i had taken both the 12 minute exam and the hesi exam, passed them both by 12/8/10..was hoping to get in for january 2010.still waiting for a letter.guess i am getting a little anxious..thank you
