  1. I graduated with my MSN- education at WGU just last June 17. Currently in the job search arena and this has been quite interesting due to the fact in hind sight should have went for the leadership track , yet most nurses are leaders and we all educate at every level. IF you like working independently it is great and less expensive then my BSN was that is for sure, Now I believe my next adventure will be a clinical nurse specialist.
  2. I would like to get into clinical nurse education or research nursing. I really liked my public policy courses also. I live in a rural area so to achieve this I would have to commute to the bigger cities to land a position like these. I believe a recruiter would be beneficial so my job search would be less intense.
  3. I recently graduated with my MSN in Education and needing some advice on how to job search for positions with the new degree, I currently work at a nusting home as a staff nurse and want to advance in my career, any advice would be great
  4. I have commented on page 5 regarding this scam and got caught up in the moment and paid dearly.
  5. That is great you got your money back. Congrats.
  6. The International Nurses Association is a fraud. The American Nurses Association does not call or send letters unless you choose to join. I did the dumbest thing and I am curtainly old enough to know better. I was caught up in the hipe of being recognized for my 28 years in the medical field that I gave money to this disaster. They have taken over $1000.00 dollars out of my account without explanation then had the gull to call me and ask for another $500.00 more becuase they were behind on getting the book published which now I know there is no recognition book. They sent me a book that just has a Facebook account and they say a voucher for $500.00 to use for the airlines yeah right. You can find them on Facebook. I have written letters to try and get my money back but I have a bad feeling that I have been scammed out of it all. I closed the account no less. This is so embarassing for me to even write this but I want all to know "DO NOT FALL FOR IT LIKE I DID". I have many more letters to write, and may need to get a lawyer which may cost me more than what I have already lost. Never give personal account information to anyone unless you know what you are getting. I know when I turn them into the Attorney Generals Office they will ask if I gave them money and it will be shame on me. What really made me mad is when I would check my account money was taken out. They do have a number that reaches the INA but I have gotten emails to see what I am so angry about. They have not heard the last of me until they give me all my money back. Best Wishes to you all. Just do not do it.
  7. I have to agree with having someone to back you up if you do not have the experience to make critical choices. The real down fall of being an RN some places like SNF will put you in poor scenarios and hang you out to dry. Speak up and ask for assistance. You probalby have the right stuff to do the job but just be careful of what they ask of you. Best Wishes.
  8. I have been in the medical field for 28 years starting as a medical assistant and worked my way up to my RN while home schooling my daughter, then just recently acquired my BSN from Univeristy of Colorado Online, "Great Program" Nothing in life is easy. If you want it bad enough you can do anything. Their is so much to specialize in nursing so I say go for it. We need more nurses that work from the heart and really want to help people not be judgemental but take them as they are and do your best to make their live as good as you can. One thing is don't forget to take of yourself along the way. I say "DREAM BIG". I am now seeking out my Wound ,Ostomy Nurse Certification. Yes I may be a little crazy but I love to learn and want to help people heal and give them the tools to do so. Best Wishes.
  9. Starting NS is like boot camp at least it was where I attended college for my ADN, now I am working on my BSN online. Take a deep breath and study like there is no tomorrow and you will prevail. I wish you the best of luck, dream big, believe in yourself and have a study buddy. It will go by fast your head will swim.
  10. Well talking about nursing ratios, Long Term Skilled Facilities you get 25-30 patients per shift and night close to 50. Some are long term others are Skilled rehab and you run "Literally" to get all medications , wound care, treatments and just pray to god that no 2 patients code at the same time. I live in small community and trying to get into traveling nursing. I love what I do it would just be nice to enjoy where I am at. thanks
