Med takers....

...do you hunt them down or do they just know to come in? Most of mine know. I have 2 that I occasionally have to hunt down. Just curious how you other peeps do it!

Same. Most come on their own but occasionally I have to hunt them down if they forget. It was much worse at the beginning of the year when routines were still being established but now they come when they're supposed to for the most part.

for the most part, my kids know when to come in. I work with jr high kids. Usually if I notice it is past the time that I usually see a kid (generally their lunch period), I check attendance first and then call the classroom to have them pop in.

Similar. Most come on their own, but occasionally I have to run them down. Usually just a phone call to the class after lunch to get them.

Same!

I have one that keeps forgetting. I use "hospital time" (1/2 hour before, 1/2 hour after) to count it as on time. If it is outside of that window, I will call the parent and request permission to give it late.

I have 1 that give meds to BID that keeps "forgetting" which is code for blowing off taking her meds and getting annoyed when I call her down from class. It's a fun game

By now, most of them remember. It takes a few weeks for new med kids to get in the habit. If one occasionally forgets, I will call for them. I don't mind that - its not like I never forget anything

But I've had those kids that just can't get it. I do get annoyed, mostly for having to keep bothering the classroom they are in by calling. If that happens I usually try to enlist the help of the teacher/aide or whoever else might be around to help remind and get on a schedule.

I only have 1, a T1D w/ ADHD. She drives me nuts hunting her down, refusing snacks, flailing her bloody finger around and wiping it on her clothes and she rarely comes to me when the class has treats. Thankfully mom is totally indifferent to her sugars and I can basically do whatever.

Elementary school - I give 10 scheduled meds right now and only 1 student has trouble remembering - usually 2-3 times a week. Between the parents, teachers and myself we try to figure out a good time for the kids to take their scheduled medication so it is easy for the kid to remember. Even though these are elementary kids I still think they need to be accountable and learn to take some responsibility & have some control over their health.

Mine know to come in. I service 3, sometimes 4 schools, so I'm not always here to track them down. They have to earn some responsibility wings while on my watch :)

I've had ones I've had to hunt down, and I've had those who want them NOW, even when 'now' is 'way earlier than they're supposed to get them'.

My students drop by at their designated times..yay!

They're pretty good for k-6. If I don't see someone around their usual time then I check attendance then call the class. For the most part I usually don't have to go hunting.
