Maricopa Spring 2016 Block 1 students

Published

So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.

I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.

How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?

When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?

Oops meant to ask whether there are two clincal days to replace the TWO lab days...

The paperwork said it could include Sat/Sun.

Hi ladies

current block 1 student at gateway traditional cep program. You will have simulation days o e day a week prior to clinicals and then have clinicals one day a week and yes there is a possibility of them landing on a weekend. Times can be anytime so as someone with 2 kids in school I'll just say plan on having someone to pick them up and have the arrangements in place prior, it's very frowned upon to miss days in class or clinical. Your days spent at school or in clinical drop down towards the end of the semester, but I highly advise using that time to continue to study and not try to work more. Good luck everyone!

You may also have clinicals two days a week. That is my clinical schedule with EMCC. While others in my cohort will have clinicals 1x a week for 8 weeks, my group will have clinicals 2x a week for 4 weeks. It's all based on availability they can find. I'm sure they try to do 1x a week for 8 weeks though. We have 4 groups for clinicals and only one (mine) is 2x a week. I'm hoping it isn't a disadvantage for us because others will be starting their clinicals a couple weeks before us. And our clinicals are 6:30-6:30, so yes 12 HR shifts.

My Block 1 clinicals (I go to MCC) were 2x a week (Weds & Thurs), 8 hours each day, 0630-1430. We didn't do 12 hour clinicals until Block 2 when we were in the hospital.

I should have posted this a month ago when I got it, but here is Gateway's evening schedule! :)

Picture didn't come through.

GCC evening schedule for anyone wondering.

Tue 5-9 pm

Wed 5-10 pm

Sat 730am - 1230 until clinicals start

We got to choose clinical day which is usually attached to a place but I don't think they have clinical places locked in yet so I'm not sure where I'm going.

Sometimes I am so bad at the internet.

Here is the schedule, and we are not allowed to request clinical spots. attachment.php?attachmentid=20298&stc=1

Does SPRING BREAK DATES and TIMES apply to nursing students?

Yes they do!

Hello everyone,

I am almost done with my block 1 nursing at Gateway Community College. I bought two nursing totes because I forgot mine one day for class and didn't want to seem unprepared. Everything in the tote is brand new and I never opened the tote because to my surprise that day we didn't use the tote. I will be offering it for $90 or best offer, typically the totes are $110 and up. Let me know if you wanna buy it off me!

I'm just wondering... how do we upload our documents to CertifiedProfile? Anyone receive the email from them yet?
