Maricopa Spring 2016 Block 1 students

Published

So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.

I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.

How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?

When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?

I am wondering when we should do the medical papers and stuff too. The info that was in the nursing application package every paper has "for information only" stamped across it so I'm thinking those aren't the actual papers we should be having the Dr sign off on but wondering when we'll get those then or if there is forms we can pull off the nursing website (I haven't looked).

I scheduled my CPR class for next week. It's good for two years and I want to make sure that when its time to renew that it's summertime as that is the easiest time for me to get it done.

I am accepted to UIU, I got an email that I am all admitted to the school and everything. just waiting for them to get my official transcripts and I should be good to go!

Yeah, my acceptance e-mail said we (gcc students) would get more information in October. So I'm assuming that's when they want us to start those forms.

For financial reasons I'm going to wait till September to get my CPR done. Who did you sign up with for the class?

As far as ASU, I'm waiting on all my trascripts to arrive and be prosseced before they will fully admite me to the school. I'm hoping that happens by the end of this week so that my financial aid will be processed in time as well.

The suspense is killer. I am going to take psy23o at Rio start July 6th so that should keep my a little busy. Hopefully 😉

I'm wondering if I need to start the vaccines sooner rather than later though. Most of them I should be good but I think there was one that you need more than one dose a couple months apart and I think I need that one updated.

I went through desert education solutions, I found them through the American heart website.

For the health requirements, start as soon as possible. The form you need is under the current students section of the nursing.maricopa.edu page. There is also a link to a banner paper for those whos insurance doesnt cover the health stuff or dont have insurance. The prices are reasonable. But remember, if you have a positive TB screen, you will need a chest XRAY which is pricey. So it would be good to know in advance if you need that. Also, if you are getting titers because you dont have your vax record, if any of those are equivicol or not immune, then you will need to get the series over again. Most are more than one injections, so you will need to plan for time on that.

For CPR, try to do it between semesters. You cannot attend clinical if your CPR or health stuff will expire in the middle of a semester. So its easier to have them come due between semesters so you are not getting extra TB screens or having to do your CPR 6 months early or whatever.

That's exactly why I'm getting my CPR done this week, it's so much easier to just have it done in the summer I would think! I also found the docs on the website here: https://asa.maricopa.edu/sites/default/files/Student_Health_and_Safety_Checklist.pdf

So I'm going to call my Dr and get an appt ASAP!

Hello! I was accepted to the spring 2016 start with cep/UIU program. The thing is that I have not heard via email from the school. I was accepted with Phoenix college. Anybody have PC and not heard from them? The only reason I know is because I called. Thanks.

Did you check your junk folder?

I'm not at PC but I'm also with UIU :)

Thank you Azbluebell!

I have checked, and called PC and they did confirm that they hadn't sent the emails. I just hope this doesn't push me back from getting the necessary things. They told me that they were "working" on sending them.

Was this recently? I know from the June CEP thread there was at least one person that got the email from PC.

Hmm do you which thread it was? It was for the Cep submission. I submitted my application on June 2, 2015. We were told that we were going to receive an email within the next 2 weeks, but so far nothing. PC was my last choice too. So I don't know if that makes any difference.
