Maricopa Spring 2016 Block 1 students

Published

So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.

I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.

How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?

When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?

Anyone with a time stamp of 12/2015 get their placement for the fall yet?

I applied for the program end of September but for some reason, my stamp didn't process through until 12/17/2015 I believe. I am reaaaallllly hoping I get in by Fall of 2016.

My college choices were SCC, MCC, Chandler Acclerated and normal, and PVCC.

From what I understand, placements don't start until March. :/

Blehhhhh, I really really really hope I get placed during that time. I am still ultra confused on how exactly they do their placement process. I have this fear that since my time stamp is 12/2015 I won't get placed until Spring 2017.

Are you doing CEP? If so, you forego the waitlist! :) I have heard that the waitlist can be down to one semester if you have plenty of choices on your application. If the time you start is a higher priority than location, I'd make sure you have all five choices selected on your application status page before placements begin to expedite the process.

Long story short....no. In fact, up until you mentioned it I didn't really know much about the CEP program and I decided to do a little research on it, and I am thinking it's something I can definitely qualify for after looking at the requirements. However....I just missed the application deadline for CEP fall start (apparently it was January 30th >.

ninja edit: and I also made sure to select five campus choices as well when I applied to get on the waiting list.

You can start the BSN portion in later blocks by still accepting your placement then applying for the ADN to BSN bridge at a partnering university. In fact, many hospitals will not even hire an RN without a BSN anymore because they aim for their "magnet status". :(

Oh okay cool, I'll look into that as well! Kinda sucks how the job market is shifting towards BSN favored individuals but I guess employers can now be picky. Regardless, I was planning on getting my bachelor's anyway but I just wanted to see what the best and most efficient way of doing it would be.

Anyways, thanks a lot for your help!

They won't hold you if you apply for CEP.

So if you are in the waiting pool and apply for spring start 2017 CEP in June and they do placement for fall and your placed you can take the spot and just start your BSN later. You just have to notify ppl if you have started the CEP process.

Chandler no longer has an accelerated program. Its just the traditional 4 semester program. Gateway is the only accelerated program now.
