Maricopa Spring 2016 Block 1 students

Published

So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.

I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.

How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?

When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?

Those of us at EMCC haven't gotten any reading assignments yet :/ I've been reading things based off of GCC just to get ahead in any way possible. Our class was put online Saturday but has no syllabus or readings.

What the heck? GW Evenings got our syllabus on Jan 6th! We have our first quiz Saturday!

Wow not more than a page? I have several pages for one chapter. I'm sure Mesa is different. Thanks for replying though

Not necessarily. His reasoning behind not doing more than a page made sense.

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

Got our syllabus today, we don't have a quiz for the first couple weeks (unless there's one that's not on the syllabus). I had a great first day though! Our professor seems so down to earth and willing to help, I'm really looking forward to this semester :)

Never mind, I must've missed it but we have a quiz next week :)

Yeah a GAZILLION pages per chapter...............!

UHG, I loath reading, although this isn't horrible. Yet!

Week two, another gazillion pages.

It was funny to see not many folks knew about this site.

I must be the smartest in the room.

Or should I say, most resourceful?

LOL Time to get my butt reading.

Plug on!

Question how many of you are actually reading every single word in the chapters assigned? How are you guys reading the chapters? Are you skimming the book? Or focusing only on volume 2 book? Any feedback on how you guys are reading these nursing books thanks

Skimming while I listen to lectures so far...

I agree. I couldn't believe so many didn't know about this site. And even the instructor. Lol

We may be a step ahead on that one. Ha

It was a great first week. Lots of new information but nothing compared to what lies ahead!

Bring on a great semester!

Yes tooooo much reading for sure [emoji52] too bad we aren't sure exactly what to focus on. They just said focus on it all and any thing can be on the test [emoji37][emoji15]

I just love that kind of teaching.

At least God gave Moses 10 (ten) Commandments . I think he knew not everyone was going to read the entire bible.

And what does "FOCUS" mean? Know? Skim? Digest?, Learn it for sure?

I really don't care about the history. Not like you're going to be doing a diagnosis with a client/patient who is post op and say, "Hey did you know nurses used to be hookers!?" Like that is going to go over really well.

Write up for sure!?! Right?

Do books differ from campus to campus? I would love to get my hands on the Ignatavicius Med Surg book for Mesa to being reading.

They do differ some.

Yeah, GateWay uses the Lewis Med/Surg book.
