Maricopa Spring 2016 Block 1 students

Published

So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.

I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.

How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?

When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?

I wouldn't think the nclex would have info to study on for like these chapters since it's not like focused on something specific exactly. I'm on chapter 43 and still have two more to go. I started yesterday but I do a ton of note writing so it takes longer. You seem to know your stuff! I wish I felt that way but it's going to be a lot of learning and learning to apply

Well I read ahead to week 2 reading, since it came out weeks ago in the welcome packet, and the nursing process was included in those chapters. That's in the NCLEX books.

;) I have to write notes, I have photographic memory so writing the notes helps. And doing something physically, liking writing and highlighting is helpful!

Practice practice practice!

I wanted to wait so it was fresh in my mind before class. I didn't wanna read too far away from class because i wanted to be able to recall everything. I too have photographic memory. I know practice practice! So not ready for school haha. It's scary!

Question how many of you are actually reading every single word in the chapters assigned? How are you guys reading the chapters? Are you skimming the book? Or focusing only on volume 2 book? Any feedback on how you guys are reading these nursing books thanks

My pharmacology teacher told us we need to read everything and summarize what we read. This summary shouldn't be more than a page, otherwise we're copying the book. GW Evenings has a preclinical lab quiz coming and all lectures, readings, EDGT modules are fair game for questions on the exam.

We are MCC.. Each is a lil different.

Wow not more than a page? I have several pages for one chapter. I'm sure Mesa is different. Thanks for replying though

Me too. 2-3 pages for each chapter so far.

@ Mesa students I'm impressed you got your syllabus so early.

The Gateway Accelerated crew barely got our syllabus on Wednesday last week.

I've been spending my nights catching up after work. And so far I've got a ton of notes already from the Lilley textbook.

Those of us at EMCC haven't gotten any reading assignments yet :/ I've been reading things based off of GCC just to get ahead in any way possible. Our class was put online Saturday but has no syllabus or readings.

I've been reading every word but not writing every word. It's a lot and I've dedicated a TON of time to it, but I figure this is the first assigned reading and I'd rather do too much and scale it back than be "behind" so to speak. So I've been reading it all, writing down the key concepts and re-reading my notes tonight as I have class tomorrow.
