Maricopa Spring 2016 Block 1 students

Published

So we all should have heard weeks ago about our placement now I wanted to start a place for the preparation for Block 1.

I know Fall semester still needs to start and end before we can even get to block 1, but hey I'm to excited.

How is everyone doing getting situated for the universitys?

When is everyone thinking about starting the stuff that needs to be done for Maricopa (I.e. medical papers, titer tests, CPR)?

I'm just wondering... how do we upload our documents to CertifiedProfile? Anyone receive the email from them yet?

It may be different for other schools but EMCC had orientation yesterday and we are uploading docs to myclinicalexchange which is also where we will do our safety modules for clinical sites.

Orientation was good! Ours wasn't very long, I know GCC is all day! We briefly met the teachers and director, she went over a few things in the handbook, we signed agreements about the handbook, asked questions we had, and got into the my clinical exchange site to get our accounts up for us to upload docs. Pretty simple :)

My Block 1 clinicals (I go to MCC) were 2x a week (Weds & Thurs), 8 hours each day, 0630-1430. We didn't do 12 hour clinicals until Block 2 when we were in the hospital.

2x clinicals a week?

How many weeks? How many hours are required?

Did you drop the lab day then? Or drop a lecture day?

I'm in afternoon for block 1, and I think it's changing for us newbies, but wanted to get some info. Thanks in advance :)

Thank you for sharing! When were lecture days and times?

I can speak for my schedule in block 1EMCC, my 2x a week clinicals are 4 weeks long and there are no labs those weeks but still lectures.

Thank you. I figured that may be the case. I guess we wait. Just wish I would hear something about a schedule sooner than Jan 12 orientation. So I can arrange care for my little one and I don't know for sure what days..

Wow, I hope you'll know your schedule before then too! That's crazy to have less than a week to prepare for childcare!

Random Q- if you are enrolled in the NAU CEP program, can you wear NAU nursing scrubs or do you still wear Maricopa? I'm an NAU alum so my heart is still with NAU!

No you wear maricopa scrubs with a NAU patch on your sleeve.
