A senior member of mamily, whom I suspect is in the early stages of Alzeimer's, told me today that her "hips were hurting" so she gave herself a Lysol Douche. She said that she had used it during the 40's as birth-control, and she thought this might make her feel better. She said she is feeling better now. I am really afraid that she is going to hurt herself. She said that she didn't use very much, but I am still worried. Ever heard of this?
Bottom line on the Lysol thing: if i can mop my floor with it, i'm not mopping any part of my body with it.
I would think that Lysol-fresh scent would be a major sex mood killer. When i smell Lysol, i think "funeral home".
As for Tide, my skin is allergic to that, i'd hate to see the reaction that the nether regions would have to it.
As Lysol being used for a supposed birth control, it could be worse i guess. Women in ancient egypt used crocodile dung. Maybe that's where the phrase "full of sh*t" came from?
I don't know what is more disturbing the ad or the place I got it from http://www.mum.org/index.html - actually a good site - just the name..........
But apparently douching with detergent in common in parts of Africa among the sex workers. There is a practice of "dry sex" and it has been quoted as one of the main reasons for the rapid spread of AIDS in the heterosexual community due to the increase in lady partsl trauma.
My mother tells a story about when I was born (1967) that they uses a small pitcher with water and lysol to splash the perineum after voiding. She says the nurses had premeasured amounts of lysol they would add to the pitcher and then the patient would add water.
Not ancient history.... just sub-ancient.....LOL
I would also like to add that the original brown bottle lysol was labeled as a disenfectant and what I remember of it (and I sure it had changed since the douche add)wasn't particularly sudsy or effective as a cleaner.:uhoh21:
