Hi there,
I've just started my LPN program in a moderately populated town. The total cost for me was $13,500. (books, labs, uniforms....) (I didn't get any loans, saved over the years.....) Were your fees comparible? I feel like it was quite expensive for a 2 1/2 year program.
Side note, apparently we'll be taught to run IV lines.....something new added to the course i believe...
I took Psych, Sociology, Math, Chemistry, A&P, Nutrition, 2 English classes and then the LPN program in Illinois. It maybe costs me $7000.00 with books and uniforms. There is no way I would of paid what some of you are paying. My community college only charges somewhere between $35 to $45 dollars a credit hour. I bought alot of my books on ebay, or bought used ones in the book store.
OMG! I have read these posts and I am RE-thinking the prospective school I enrolled in. I have to go through CNA training first 2 months=$3,000 then I enter the LVN program 15 months= A WHOPPING $31,000 yes $31,000! Is this insane? Should I rethink or what? It is a hospital based program. Will I have a better chance of landing a great position as an LVN because it's a hospital based program? HELP! So to the original OP, don't feel bad!
I know some people think what I paid (and am consequently still paying via student loans) was/is ridiculous. However, I went to a private college. So I paid close to $22,000.
The reason I don't think it's ridiculous is because the waiting list in the part of California I was in to nursing programs (at the time) was 3-4 years with no guarantee of being admitted. All of the CC's and even Universities around me have what they called a "lottery". Basically it was the luck of the draw if you got admitted into the program after 2 years or 4 years. They didn't base admission on academics.
I figured that $22k was around what most people pay for a new vehicle. Unlike a vehicle that depreciates in value the minute you drive it off the lot, I was investing in my education. So while $22k is surely more than what I hoped to pay for an LVN program, it was definately worth it.
Im going to LPN school in Alberta. Tuition is about $8000, books $3000, misc. supplies and services are another $2000. This is for a 19 month program. Thank goodness I'm getting a government grant for it that will cover EVERY PENNY for me, plus a monthly living allowance. I stongly suggest anyone planning on going to LPN school in Alberta to go to the student financial office of your school before registration and ask about the AlbertaWorks Gov't Grant Program. Its well worth it!

Hi:
My program runs from this Sept to June. The cost is about $10,000.00 includes books, uniform and test, etc. I got a Pell Grant and Scholarship money from my county for being a Dislocated Worker. My company laid us off and then went out of business. No other jobs in our area. But I do have to get a student loan to help pay my bills.
I don't have any savings as I had to pay the bills while unemployed waiting for school to start.
Hope this helps.:balloons:

I will be taking my course at Okanagan College (community, not private). It is 12 months and will cost about $8000-$9000 in total. It's about what I expected to pay. The private college here (Sprott-Shaw) costs $20,975.65. Wow, huge, huge, huge difference!!
