LPN Tuition-how much did you pay?

Wow - $13,000 - that is high. I attend a program through a community college in Sherman, Texas - about 50 miles north of Dallas, books and tuition is roughly $2,300 and the program is 10.5 months long - fall, spring and a 6 week summer semester. We will also be taught IV's in the spring semester.

Boy! I think $13,000 is high but then again it depends on the institution. CC's are much cheaper than training centers. I attended a CC and in addition received a state scholarship to cover my tuition.I also received grants from the CC that helped me buy my books.( early FAFSA application). I ended up only paying for my uniforms. Definetely a huge savings for me considering that I did not work the whole I year. I also haven't seen a lot of PN programs running for that long (2 1/2 yrs). That's pretty long for a PN program except it's on a part time basis. Goodluck to you.

Thank you for replying. :) My program is full time & through a private college, i thought 2 years was the norm for the LPN program? I figured the tuition amount was a little out of whack. However, one college on vancouver island is charging $20,000!!!!! That is Crazy!!!

All the LPN programs that I've seen have been 12 months or less.

that was eveything but uniforms.

That was a county tech school.

now I believe it is around $2500.

WOW! I should move to the states!!! Costs sure are different here in canada. I know that the first year covers A&P, interpersonal, eng. & literature, health assessments, nursing foundations 1 & 2, pathophysiology, pharm & psych. Second year, medi-surgical, family, community & mental health nursing & nursing practices(clinicals).

All sounds like fun though! I hope i survive! :rotfl:

hi there,
i've just started my lpn program in a moderately populated town. the total cost for me was $13,500. (books, labs, uniforms....) (i didn't get any loans, saved over the years.....) were your fees comparible? i feel like it was quite expensive for a 2 1/2 year program.
side note, apparently we'll be taught to run iv lines.....something new added to the course i believe...

Hi There: Where in Alberta are you from? I just started the LPN program with Norquest College out of Edmonton. I am doing it by distance learning as I don't live in Edmonton. It will cost me approx the same amount as you when I include the cost of accomodation (for the practicums) uniforms etc. Pretty expensive but much less than the RN program.

When I went to LVN school I think I paid around 5,000 and went 12 months. WOW 2.5 years ...... Good luck

wow 2.5 years is a long time, i am in a LPn program and it cost 6000 for tuition but by the time i am through it will run me close to 8000, the proigram is 13 months, but its hospital ran and i heared it was awesome;), so far i a really like it, it just very very fast pace and hard, but it can be done

although i have my course outline and compared to other posters comments, i am beginning to wonder now why the program is 2 years long here? More practicum maybe? :uhoh21:
