LPN Tuition-how much did you pay?

Published

Hi there,

I've just started my LPN program in a moderately populated town. The total cost for me was $13,500. (books, labs, uniforms....) (I didn't get any loans, saved over the years.....) Were your fees comparible? I feel like it was quite expensive for a 2 1/2 year program.

Side note, apparently we'll be taught to run IV lines.....something new added to the course i believe...

I paid $12,000 at a tech school for my LPN classes...I guess I should move to Florida, lol!! My classes lasted 15 months--part time basis. Took evening classes. We were the last class to not get IV therapy, too. (Finished that today, now just have to do my sticks!! ) However, I have heard the same school I went to just about a year and a half ago is now charging $18,000 since they've included the IV therapy in the curriculum. (Side note: the IV therapy class cost me $350!!!)

Wow Guys- in California going to a private school, which lasted 1 year, the price was $18,000.00. Are you so sure you want to move to California?

You guys don't know how crazy I am to be paying $18,000 for LPN school. It's a 12 mo program in Dayton, OH. They have an RN fast track program that was $18,000 as well. It has since gone up to $22,000. I gradaute in April '07. Not sure where I want to take my RN course work there and if the fast track 12mo programs is worth the high cost....

I will be paying around 20-25k for Concorde College.....Yes, I know its ALOT but I waited wayyyyyyyyyyyy to long and know I am in and will be done in 13 months!

Private colleges are asking up to 22.000, a 16 months program. CC won't coast you more than 3.000, but it's been really hard to get into one of those porgrams. Sometimes they have a 2 years waiting list, even when your GPA is higher than 3.5. That's what is happening around Portland, Oregon.

I use to live in Portland well Tigard to be exact. I grew up outside of Spokane Washington. I know I was pre-nuring at Clastop CC over in Astoria Oregon and that was were I litteraly decided it was "hopeless" to get in to nursing school! I know that was why I went on to other things!!

I just got accepted into a private nursing school here in Denver and it is going to cost me a arm/leg but I am in and I am not on a 2-4 wait list so I guess it is worth it:rolleyes:

That's what I'm doing as well... moving to a private school. I have a 3.7 GPA and can't get into the program... it's so bad!!

I was just on another thread about this. I mentioned that just yesterday I learned the differences. I took my LPN program in Alberta, Canada. 1 yr full time ~ $ 4,000 at a public college. At that time meds, IV therapy, IM/SQ, physician orders etc were part of the program. Now I've heard people are paying $20,000 at private colleges? That's crazy!!

I am in my 2nd year of LPN school and all together it is costing $14,000. Wow, IV lines, huh? That is cool, I wish my school did that...I plan on getting certified in that when I am done with school though. Good Luck! It is challanging (esp this year) but I have enjoyed it, and it will be wayyy worth it in the end. :monkeydance:

It's because Nursing is on high demand right now. It tends to get more expensive when everybody is looking for that degree.

I attended John Peter Smith Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Worth, Texas. It has since been closed. Tuition was $3000 for a year, but if you signed a contract to work for 1 year for the hospital upon graduation, they reduced the tuition to $900. Books and uniforms ran me $500. That was in 1993. How times have changed.
