Has anyone even heard of this school?????

I have a friend that was looking for a LPN program down that way and cant seem to find it anymore :-/ I dont know what happen to it and I was going to recommend it too her. She is planning to move back to Texas after she finisheds and she says there is a lot of jobs for LPN down th ere. I know there is a lot of LVN schools down there and I almost think it might be in her best interest to just go to school down there.

    Should I move to Texas?....please help :(

I am hoping for some advice any and all advice welcomed!! To make a long story short(er) I was in a LPN program(about to start my 3 session doing very well) here in Colorado 4 yrs ago and my sister was killed in a car accident. I went home to be with my family and when I came back I was a mess and in no position to go back. Also the school having some issues so I decided to take some time off and just start taking classes at the local CC where I eventually completed my pre reqs. At that time I knew even with my good grades that the wait list in Denver were running 3-6 yrs so I got on a waitlist outside of the metro in a rural area. I was very excited because of how it looked like with my # on the wait list I would be starting this fall. Well a few months ago they decided to change their program to competitive....which is all fine most programs in Colorado are now BUT all of them finished out their waitlist first. They didn't just sent us letters telling us we were pretty much S.O.L. and should just try again. I was heart broken because we had planned to relocate this fall We were seriously considering moving to Dallas/Fort Worth after I was done with school years ago so I started looking again. There is a very good chance of my husband getting transferred there too. I notice there is a lot of LVN programs in that area and also through out the state. Concorde is out of the question, but I did call Dallas Nursing Institute today. The guy did seem nice but couldn't answer a lot of my questions and did promise to call back. I am open to any program really. I am feeling very pressed for time. I have been messing around with this honestly way too long I am also not getting any younger I will be in my early 30's when I will be done right now and I dont want to wait any longer. Realistically a nursing program here in Denver is not a good chance so I am willing to relocate. If I do stay here I am at a point where I may need to he looking at other options and I don't really want to do that. Any service us welcomed I think I am mainly focusing on LVN programs and would like ro be in DFW but am open to other parts of the state too! Thanks in advance
  3. I understand nothing is easy so I should of probably used another words. It just hurts when you were next in line and then the rug gets pulled out of under you. Yes, my preqes gpa is great but now they added things like CNA(which will take around 6-9 months to get unless I pay for a private program), extra points for living in the area(I'm in Denver....sterling is a couple hrs outside) then also community service or working in health care...I don't mind volunteering and don't work in health care. I talked to the women in charge with the waitlist and she told me if I was to complete the other extra things and pay for a private CNA course, volunteer or take a job in health care, and be willing to relocate up there I might have a chance in 2012-2013....but many of the applicants have yrs of working in health care and rhet will take preference even tho I have a almost 4.0. She also at the end of the convo she herself would NOT relocate to a rural area with limited employment unlesa i was in the program because it wouldn't increase my chances much. I guess there is the private/for profit schools here that are 47 & 70k
  4. I just need to vent Awhile ago NJC in Sterling CO changed their admission process to competitive and that is all fine and dandy but I was pretty much next on the wait list and would of been most likely going into the program this next fall...I was even planning on relocating up there! I just want to scream because I feel like I got screwed and I know that may sound melodramatic but I do...I was having a huge pity party last night. I am sincerely thinking about just throwing in the towel at this point. I don't know what I can do other then go the private/for profit route. I am 29 so I am not 'old' but I also don't feel like I have much more time to be fooling around either and I have been at this for several years now. My prerequisite I had excellent GPA's but last semester I decided to not attend because I cant afford to keep going to school and pretty much 'messing around' while I wait to get in. I have too many loans to beginning with. I am pretty much at a breaking point I need to either get a RN or LPN program(even willing to relocate maybe) or start to really look into another program or career field because I can't do this anymore:crying2: I have been doing this for the last 5+ yrs and I am just burnt out at this point. I also never thought I wouldn't be even close to having a career at near 30...which would be maybe fine if I hadn't been doing this for the past 5. I have been even looking into Dental assistant, surgical tech, billing & coding and everything in between....I just want to cry

    College America???

I was wondering if anyone goes there or has any info? I tried to call and they wouldn't give me any info at all and I sort of felt as if I was calling a call center:confused: I know some of these(for profit) schools don't like to really give you any info until you go in....or at least that is the way Concorde is, but I just can't seem to find any info at all and wanted to know if it is even worth getting more info. TIA!

Can I get some feedback??? Please :)

As a RN I would like to put a couple years in on a Med-Surg floor to get a feel of things. For a long time I thought I wanted to work in the ICU but lots of different areas spark my interest.

Can I get some feedback??? Please :)

Thanks so much!!! If you don't mind me asking was it hard for you to find a job after school? Also what is usually the pay for a beginning tech and does it matter if it is a diploma or AA? I ask because there is a couple programs that offer both.

Can I get some feedback??? Please :)

As a Pharm tech I have told that it would probably be Walgreens. I know that everyone wants to work in a hospital but I have been told that unless you have experience it isn't going to happen. I believe Walgreens starts out about $10-12hr. When it comes to the Surgical tech I have heard good and bad. I have been told a bunch of different pay rates but I have also been told that it is sometimes hard to find a job without experience....and well I don't know how you GET experience right after school.

Can I get some feedback??? Please :)

I am hoping that someone can give me some feedback on what to do....right now I feel like I am pretty lost I am done with all my pre-reqs and got on the wait list but as it looks right now unless I am willing to move outside of Denver I am looking at many many years:down: I had no problem waiting I came into this process knowing that unless I was willing to move that this was the way it was going to be. Well some things happened and it looks like waiting 3-5+ years might not be what I can do so I have to figure out something else to do in the mean time. I have been looking at different things and feel really really lost. I really don't want to work as a CNA so I started looking at other options....including other programs to complete and do while waiting to get into a nursing program. I started looking around and found a Pharmacy Tech program that is only 1 day a week for 12wks and is under $1000. Working in a pharmacy is by far what I dreamed of doing or even really want to do but it would be work I also found a couple of Surgical Tech programs which sound pretty interesting overall and I think I would enjoy more then the pharmacy tech, but of course it is longer more expensive. I am not planning on making tons of $$$ but would like to be able to make an 'OK' living in the mean time. Any feedback would be great or even other ideas! Thanks in advance! I

    A&P Pre-reqs and CCCOnline class

I think I might of miss understood you :) you don't HAVE to take BIO 105/106 you can get right into BIO 201 if you have taken a BIO before like in High School or you can ask a counselor to sign off you going right in. I was able to go right in but knew I would need a refresher course and I am glad I did. I don't mind taking it online but it is the only class out of all the online classes that had made me wish I didn't BIO 105 was super easy online BIO 201 a lot of days I really wish I would of taken it on campus.

What's the deal with Platt College in Aurora?

Is there any Platt grads out there that can give feedback? I know of a couple people in their 1st couple of semesters but no one after that. I am wondering the drop out rate :err:

    A&P Pre-reqs and CCCOnline class

You can't do them at the same time and honestly it would be really really if not impossible to get a good grade in taking both at the same time. I did amazing in BIO 106but BIO 201 is kicking my butt and is really demanding more then I could of ever imagined.

    Abortion in nursing school rotations?

I have known many women who have lost babies and I have also suffered from fertility problems am on private forum for people who are going through infertility treatments where I have heard lots of stories. Most people I know do take pictures of their babies there is even several photographers that do free photographs for the parents. They want a picture of there baby just like anyone else would of their baby. I have seen a few of them and most of the time they look like just a newborn picture. I can say the parents I know who have taken a few pictures they mean the world to them and they cherish them. I can't even imagine going into the hospital pregnant planning on coming home with a baby and leaving with nothing but a broken heart.

What do you think of this?

Commuter that is exactly what I felt with the slippery slope. I just could see it hurting nurses harder then most doctor's I don't know why but I really do.
