I just need to vent Awhile ago NJC in Sterling CO changed their admission process to competitive and that is all fine and dandy but I was pretty much next on the wait list and would of been most likely going into the program this next fall...I was even planning on relocating up there! I just want to scream because I feel like I got screwed and I know that may sound melodramatic but I do...I was having a huge pity party last night. I am sincerely thinking about just throwing in the towel at this point. I don't know what I can do other then go the private/for profit route. I am 29 so I am not 'old' but I also don't feel like I have much more time to be fooling around either and I have been at this for several years now. My prerequisite I had excellent GPA's but last semester I decided to not attend because I cant afford to keep going to school and pretty much 'messing around' while I wait to get in. I have too many loans to beginning with.

I am in full support of merit based admissions, but I can totally see why you are so upset; with them dumping the existing wait list to go merit, it must feel like a broken promise! They probably had no choice but to go merit in order to get NLN accreditation: only one of the last 3 years has their NCLEX pass rate been above the national average.
Since you have good grades, why not reapply? It sounds like you'd be a shoe-in! :)
They ought to waive your admission fee or just take your existing app! That would seem fair...

I agree with SummitAP. The other schools that switched to merit based waited until they took everyone off their waitlists, which seemed more fair.
