Low gpa! Do I have a shot?

Most nursing schools will have a minimum GPA, but unless you're well above their minimum you *might* not be considered. A 2.75 really means at least a 3.0. Can you take classes at a community college to try and bring up your GPA?

In many programs, it is rare to get accepted with the minimum GPA. You are competing with applicants with significantly higher GPAs than the minimjm, just think of it that way.

Your best bet would be to retake classes you didn't get an A in (especially prerequisites) to bring up your GPA.

I was accepted into NS with a low GPA from college when I went through some serious health problems, but I sought out a nursing program with a holistic approach to the application process (where they look at the whole applicant and not just grades). I had a LOT of people write letters of recommendation on my behalf (including my dean at my old college whom I was still in touch with). I also rocked the interview portion as well.

Hi! I go to chamberlain in troy Mi and I can tell you it's extremely pricey, but welll worth the money. But the low GPA is a concern. Maybe if you retake one of your classes that you did poorly on? That would increase your GPA to meet the requirment

Honestly, you are probably not going to get into nursing school.

You need to figure out a way to get your GPA up. Re-take classes you have low grades in or take a bunch of easy A classes to bring up your average.

We're talking about the Chamberlain School of Nursing, owned by the for-profit university behemoth DeVry Corporation. They have virtually a 100 percent acceptance rate and will take almost anyone who can find a way to fund the $86,000 tuition for the BSN program.

Ha, you'll get in. They DO take almost anyone. Only thing is, you'll be weeded out if you don't bring your grades up-- but not before you pay some of those tuition fees.

They definitely have a GPA requirement. Chamberlain is an extremely good nursing program and it irritates me that people think otherwise just because the entrance requirements aren't as hard as other schools. Trust me, once your in its HARD to stay in. Chamberlain grads get hired at the same institutions as other schools and uphold their name to very high standards. So annoying.

I have applied to the Jacksonville campus for the Fall 2015 semester. I scored an 86 on my HESI but my gpa is slight below the required gpa. My advisor is very upbeat and positive about my package but I am extremely nervous! They are wrapping up summer semeter applicats so I havent heard back yet. I have 10+ years enlisted military in the medical field but unfortunately my training does not convert over into my gpa. This is my dream, hopefully it will come true!

you definitely have a shot! the admissions advisor at chamberlain told me they look at everything for example they will see maybe your gpa is a little low but you have military medical training.
