I don't watch Jay Leno either but it didn't stop me from e-mailing NBC and speaking my mind. I think if 2.4 million nurses e-mailed the show demanding a public apology or else we would boycott NBC programing, they would then take notice. However, I don't expect this to happen because we can't even get the nurses to join their own organization, the ANA. So much for unity in the nursing profession.

I just sent my email in to NBC; I certainly hope that they receive many, many more responses than there are comments on this thread! Come on people, this is part of the "big picture" or the "grand scheme" business that we've been talking about here! Let us know that you've sent an email to NBC!
I sent my email to Mr. Leno and NBC. A comment like that could do more damage to the reputation of this profession than we can correct in years. Really makes the youth want to be a nurse, eh! Everyone else needs to reply, they need to hear from us, guys. If we're going to complain about the lack of respect we receive, we must stop this type insensitivity!!!!
I don't know what to say? However, from my experience it goes along with what most people think. (We are bedpan changers, food feeders, and brainless pill passers). No I did not make that up, I have heard that from many patients. I have heard we would be nothing without doctors, etc etc. Are there good comments? sure.......but inaccurate to realistic is about 10:1, that's the problem....and with guys like Jay out there.....no chance for us. The media rules......
out Rick
Sent my e-mail tonight. He will probably make even more off color "jokes" now. Guess we know where he stands.

This was origanally on another post, but I felt it deserved it's own post It's no wonder the public gets the idea that we are handmaidens. Did anyone see Jay Leno last night? One of his "jokes" was that he had seen on CNN that there was a nursing shortage. And we can't do without nurses, because without nurses there would be no more Media movies. Someone originally posted this and i could'nt believe it I have written to NBC and complained about it....everyone here should do the same! [email protected] is the email.....lets be heard!!!
