For those of you just tuning in, please allow me to bring you up to speed:

I was terminated from Wrongway after 17 years two weeks and two days, am considering retirement, but also considering semi-retirement, working part time.

On Sunday I applied online for a position 7 1/2 miles from my rural home at a LTC facility, and on Monday I was offered a position.

I figure working eight 8 hour shifts per month will pay the bills without me having to deplete other financial reserves.

So begins a tentative nursing future with...

Looking forward to hearing about your new adventures!

Well, no new adventures, but I thought I'd give you an update: All the business stuff- license verification, BLS cert, tax forms, etc.-for my position at Incorrigible is completed and my first orientation shift is April 25, one day short of my month anniversary termination from Wrongway.

Odd- In the span of 5 days, the entire hiring process has taken place and everything else has fallen into place: The people are friendly, the facility is clean, I'm getting the schedule, hours and pay I want, so, being the perpetual pessimist, I wonder when the sky is going to fall or the tragedy is going to take place.

Elvis recorded a sweet syrupy song titled "Mama Liked the Roses". I came up with parodies like "Mama Liked to Tear the Wings Off Of Flies" and such.

One of my favs was "Mama Liked the Stink Bombs":

Oh Davey, I think just like that too. I think when you have lived long enough, and gone through things in life, you just know that the shoe will in fact drop sooner or later. Although I do try not to dwell on that but it is always there in the back of your mind.

I also hope your sis is doing well!

DD - I was looking for 'all of the above' and 'none of the above' as answers to your quiz.

CONGRATS on the new job.

CONGRATS on the new position. Actually in the cartoon of choice A or B, I actually chose choice A. Because although you sometimes talk a fun game, you do clean up good.

I wish you all the best in this next adventure. I am sure there will be many good stories to tell.

Take care and stay safe

Thank you and amen beckysue.

It looks like little sister has terminal cancer, I've only received the news last night, and am still coming into grips with it.

I did some cathartic art this morning and am still in the process of having a good cry. I thought I'd do some distraction like go on allnurses. Peculiar, yours was the first post I read, beckysue.

Please don't feel bad about that. The Fates guided me to your post for a reason, and I respect that.

I know you all send your empathy and support and I appreciate that. The only thing that I can do now I to go on with my life as best I can and be there for little sister.

Signing off for now.

Davey Do. I sit here with tears in my eyes with the devastating news you received about you little sister. She is in my prayers and sending healing thoughts.

I know you will be there for her. Isn't it strange how things are working out?
