In light of the recent NETY thread that was closed...

  1. Do you think NETY threads should be reported for TOS violations before they get ugly?

Can we have an unofficial policy where all inappropriate NETY threads are immediately reported to the moderators for breaking TOS? The recent NETY thread was closed as I was typing a response that included a request for people to not buy into the poster who was a new member on post #2 and was insulting people and therefore I decided must have been trolling. In that post I was also about to request that the moderators close the thread. Before I hit send, the thread was closed and very appropriately I will add.

Edit:

NETY stands for "Nurses Eat Their Young."

ok, i took the time to contact OP, re the closed NETY......... I explained to her what she did wrong, explained if she would research imput from some of us "seasoned fossils"......she would realize she was being afforded a wealth of knowlege.....

my opinion nursing education has changed, todays process would say well we have moved away from task orrientation.........well my four decades+ diploma program encorporated the 80-90% clinicals we did with critical thinking skills.......we were able to hit the floor running.....regardless of LPN/LVN, ASN, OR BSN........new prepared nurses take almost one year to attain the skill set, applied knowlege, and safe confidence......that is frustrating for the new nurse, and seasoned......

but it is where we are today......... my opinion only, i feel this is major root cause of the alledged nety......

I can believe I contributed to page 7, relating to a closed thread ........sorry ;)

PVT, "Is this a HIPAA violation?" (typo on purpose by me!) and NETY threads are my top three with ADN vs. BSN coming a VERY close fourth!!

If I could choose to ban one type of thread, it would be the PVT pop up threads...or the "I got 179 questions and only 5 SATA do you think I failed" threads.

The NETY ones at least occasionally have some entertainment value. Since I like watching strangers argue with each other.

You forgot one other annoyance...will I loose my license? I'd still like to know how educated nurses can screw up the spelling so badly on this one.

I'm OK with the latter...but the PVT--drives me nuts. Not that I find the people who post them offensive--I don't. Totally understand why they want to know. However, it boggles my mind how someone would risk $200 on the trick...or admit that you used an empty gift card to trick the system. Talk about giving nursing a bad name.

Don't most states report results in 48h? Sheesh...it's two measly days. You're (not you personally) not going to die having to wait two days. Us oldsters waited months to get results back. We lived.

Say that on the NCLEX board and you'll quickly be labled as mean and rude, LOL....I frequently post exactly the information they wanted to know, ASKED to know....and still only ONE post later someone says "can someone explain this to me, I'm so confused". WITHOUT looking at exactly ONE post before theirs. Which, if they had read it, would tell them EVERYTHING they wanted to know and couldn't figure out how to (not) ask.

Yep, can get frustrating!

omg yes! Imagining all those loose licenses, flopping all over the place.......

Why, case in point on the NETY stuff, you meanies. You should all loose your lisences for cyber bullying.

I can imagine someone using an empty gift card to trick the system, then the testing company turning this information over to the authorities and the person is denied a license for attempting to engage in fraud. Stranger things.....

Isn't the point of closing a thread is that the topic is now close for discussion because it got heated? Why do people feel the need to start another thread in which to discuss why the old thread got closed? Boggles the mind.

People need to either not read the threads that irritate then or just buck up buttercup and grow a thicker skin.

Exactly!!!!!!
