In light of the recent NETY thread that was closed...

  1. Do you think NETY threads should be reported for TOS violations before they get ugly?

Can we have an unofficial policy where all inappropriate NETY threads are immediately reported to the moderators for breaking TOS? The recent NETY thread was closed as I was typing a response that included a request for people to not buy into the poster who was a new member on post #2 and was insulting people and therefore I decided must have been trolling. In that post I was also about to request that the moderators close the thread. Before I hit send, the thread was closed and very appropriately I will add.

Edit:

NETY stands for "Nurses Eat Their Young."

I think posters can vent a'plenty without having to utter the TIRED, oh so VERY TIRED cliché of "NETY". It CAN be done, I am sure of it!

And that's why lateral violence continues, because no one wants to talk about it. It's like school bullying, which wasn't taken seriously until kids started dying. Denying it and banning conversation about it will only make the problem persist. Doctors were allowed to yell, scream, and throw things at nurses for a long time. No one (I hope) defends that behavior today.

How would a "NETY" ban work? No venting? Don't vent about co-workers mistreating you, because it's all your fault?

I don't think anyone has a problem with posters coming here to vent. The issue arises with the cliched stereotype that nurses eat their young when in fact what is being vented about is most definitely not NETY or bullying. Claiming such cheapens the meaning of those words. There is a difference between bluntness/rudeness/telling it like it is and true bullying/nurses eat their young/nurses eat their old. Unfortunately, there are many unable to make that distinction. That is where most of us see an issue arising.

ROFLMAO thank you for the laugh of the day for me!!!

Haha...all you guys knooooow what I'm talking about!

Now this makes sense.
. The other thread was closed and this one is already on page 6 for such a such a disliked topic. Like I said, boggles the mind.

It does make the forum more fun to have this sort of stuff, come to think of it. I'm glad the forum allows it. It would be a less entertaining forum to only discuss dry topics, or whether you can figure out your NCLEX results by getting some sort of computer pop up.

After all, we come here to be entertained.

If I could choose to ban one type of thread, it would be the PVT pop up threads...or the "I got 179 questions and only 5 SATA do you think I failed" threads.

The NETY ones at least occasionally have some entertainment value. Since I like watching strangers argue with each other.

It's so entertaining to read threads like this-ones that talk about why another thread on the same topic was closed because it got heated. That was my point-not whether it was about nurses who eat they young. Which I might add DOES seem to be a rather heated topic here.

I'm perplexed as to why a topic that usually turns into fights is so entertaining to you though.

I certainly haven't noticed any disinclination to discuss lateral violence, bullying or young eating on THIS forum!

I'll vote to ban the PVT threads. Now can we also ban the threads about "You're going to be a great nurse even though you've failed the NCLEX 7 times. Don't give up on your DREEEEAAAAAAAAMMMMMMM!"

You must not be a fan of any of the Kardashian reality shows.
