I have a big favor. I know that in texting writing "ur" or "2" for to is acceptable. But honestly, when you post like that, I don't understand what it is your trying to say. I usually just skip over the whole post, because it looks like gibberish to me. Please, this is a nursing forum, not facebook. Can we write in standardized English so we can ALL understand the content? Thank you.

i wholeheartedly agree. i understand that some people reply to the boards using their smart phones, but my head spins when trying to read text speak. i actually type words out when i text, though my younger sisters say that i am wasting my time. but they always have not problem understanding what i am writing to them .
from the terms of service: (terms of service)
[h=3]english only:[/h] while allnurses.com, inc hosts visitors from around the world, it is based in the united states and much of our membership is english speaking. due to our inability to moderate threads in other languages, we ask that interactions be in english for the enjoyment of as many posters as possible.
please do not type entirely in capitals as it is considered shouting on the internet.
desiring to maintain professionalism, text speak (also known as chatspeak, txtspk, texting language or txt talk) is discouraged. along with using proper english spelling and punctuation, this shows respect for the owner, other bulletin board members, guests, and makes it easier to read your message"
i am amazed at the number of people (in general) who don't bother to even look at the terms of service for a website when they sign up (for any site) then are shocked when the tos that they agreed to are pointed out to them.

Although I am cognizant that this is a message board and not grammar school, people should seriously consider composing their posts in standard English if they wish to generate the maximum number of helpful replies.

You think so Leslie? That was why I wanted to add a little humor. I am 49 years old, but I try to roll with the current way things are and not fight the changing ways of society as new generations take over.
Also, this is a place to come and enjoy yourself and relax. It should not be work!
I am able to communicate in a perfectly literate and grammatically correct way, but if it is not work or I am not in school I reserve the right to relax my professional standards and join our worlds youth!

I email from my smartphone and will sometimes forget that I'm texting, when I remember I will go back and change all my text speak because it looks pretty unprofessional.

I totally agree. It's hard to take someone seriously when they talk like an illiterate teen.I picture these people in the work place and I cringe.
