QuoteA San Antonio doctor says a man in his 30s who thought the coronavirus was a “hoax” died from the disease after attending a COVID-19 party.
Dr. Jane Appleby, chief medical officer at San Antonio’s Methodist Hospital, says lately she’s been hearing about COVID-19 parties, which young people allegedly attend to see who gets infected first or who can survive the virus.
“One of the things that was heart-wrenching that he said to his nurse was, ‘You know, I think I made a mistake.'"
In its entirety: 'I think I made a mistake': Young man from Texas dies after attending COVID-19 party
It is imperative that we take all of this seriously.

We do take steps to mitigate that by having laws against drunk driving. We also have designed automobiles so that accidents (whether involving intoxicated drivers or not) are more survivable than ever. I could go on (having spent a number of years working in the automotive industry) but the point is that we make efforts to reduce the number of auto-related deaths and we will make efforts to reduce the number of Covid-19-related deaths.

Curious that you had to explain common public safety strategies to a fellow health professional who somehow thinks that drunk driving deaths are comparable to a highly contagious virus.
This story has essentially been revealed as an urban legend. It was the NyTimes who first reported it, and check back to see their most recent updates. “Can’t actually confirm this” “nobody at the hospital says this happened” “unsure where this info came from.”
Undoubtedly people are behaving foolishly in this pandemic, and undoubtedly there have been victims who formerly thought it was a hoax. But for the Times to publish this story the way they published it this week shows a drastic lack of journalistic integrity.

Are you suggesting that the elderly don't need to live? That those with respiratory conditions should save us money and just die? Why do you only seem to value the death of a young person?
You sound like a troll that isn't even a nurse if you value life that little. I sure wouldn't want you taking care of me with that attitude. Let me guess, you are a Trump supporter that thinks the USA should just drop the masks and open back up and let Darwinism take the lead? How close am I?

Most of us have ignored that particular particpant for all of the concerns that you voiced. We are hoping that depriving him of attention will be effective.

And this!
This poster has been trolling us for quite some time and will hijack any reasonable healthcare post with garbage and junk. This poster knows that Trump's bigoted, selfish, corrupt, and anti-American way of thinking is in the minority within our country (high 30% among eligible voters) and not some fake a silent majority. So, posters like these are afraid.
Out of fear they attempt to fight us verbally in an effort to change our minds. The polls show that 70% of eligible voters are not interested in the lies of this commander of chief who has also provided no acceptable response to the allegations of Putin placing a bounty on our troops heads while commuting the sentences of his crony felon friends. We the citizens of the United States and of our beautiful World are going to vote in November and that is scary to them.

Remember when they alleged that John McCain (war hero) was having an affair to try to bring him down against Obama? It'll spin any and every story - almost as badly as CNN - to put up a pro-Fauci and anti-Drumpf agenda!
Grade school name calling doesn't give your post the authority and credibility you think it does.
And in regards to Dr. Fauci, who's the expert regarding situations like this (not your pathetic cult leader), I'm sorry that facts aren't something you do.
It's been said time and again that reality has a well known liberal bias.

Thank you for your comment.
I joined All Nurses back in July 2010 when embarking upon my nursing prerequisites was a gleam in my eye. Now I've been an RN for 4.5 years. No one reviewing my 10-year post history on this site would come to the conclusion that I'm motivated to insult others. Yet I had a post removed for the first time ever when this relatively new member of like 4 months has been spewing misinformation over this forum. Disappointing.
And yes--vote in November. Very little changes or improves unless responsible, informed citizens hold themselves accountable and cast their votes.

I don't disagree that all age groups for the most part have individuals guilty of irresponsible behavior. The lack of leadership and the politicizing of a public health enemy is the largest contributor to the spread we are now seeing.
