There are very few nurses in my facility with BSN's. Two, to be precise. One is wonderful and supportive, the other doesn't like distance learning and used to give ma a hard time about Excelsior. A little older than me, ADN grad, got her BSN years ago, brick and mortar.
I tell her I've enrolled in the RN-MSN and she says, "Yeah." Eyeroll. When I got offended, it isn't me, I just shouldn't be allowed to do this. Where's the standard entry? SHE had to yada yada yada. I said, "Fine. I won't talk about it." "No, talk about it. It isn't personal, it's the whole process." "Well, it is personal. It affects me."
Brat.
Well, I've done that, and I can affirm your suspicion that it wouldn't. Fly, I mean.
But what was nice as a medic was even after that and maybe a few other choice words, everyone would still meet up at the bar for drinks with no hard feelings....I mean the rule was go ahead and dish it out, in fact, bring it on, but you had better be able to take it when the time comes.
Why are nurses jealous these days? Everyone has a chance these days to get the education online or in school full-time - your pick. If its online then you have the opportunity for on the job training towards your degree.
Waiting for my ATT (NCLEX-PN)! Which is better to go after? An online education with like Excelsior or a big college for the BSN?

Laugh at her:
say: I understand your disapproval, someone should disapprove since, the BON, NLN, NCSBN, AAN, ANA, AACN, ACNP, INS, AACNS, NANPWH, ect, ect APPROVE and view us as equal".
In the eyes of your BON, and most national organizations you ARE equal, sooo does her disapproval make her feel better than you? I guess so.
Then say: "But don't worry when I get my MSN, then we won't be equal."

Angela, it depends a lot on your state.
Personally, I would bridge to the RN via Excelsior or a local bridge program *if* one is available. Get the license faster, as well as the pay and opportunities. Then do the BSN.

I would do Excelsior. My local county college suspended their bridge program, and everytime I turned around, I got crap for being an LPN. I just transferred everything to EC. I really don't need to be on a clinical floor. And everyone I talk to who has done EC loves it!:redpinkhe
She must've just realized you might be her boss some day.

Hi, Sue,
You know how I feel about attitude from people. P!$$e$ me off, too. I knew that keeping my MSN aspirations to myself was the best idea. Too many frenemies to trust. Want to race toward that MSN?
Best,
Linda
