Hello everyone :)
I'm a first year nursing student.... I'm a little over a month into my first semester. Although nursing school takes alot of time and effort I must say that I love nursing school. I just hope I'll continue to love it even when I get to med surg, peds, pharmacology and other complex subjects. So far we've had two exams and I got A's on both of them. I have a pretty set guide of how to study effectively to get A's , and just hope I continue to get great grades. Overall, I must give thanks to GOD, because with out him I would not be this successful. He gives me the strength everyday to work full-time, go to school, and study everyday. Everytime before I have an exam I pray that God relieves my anxiety and bless me to do well, so far its working. I just want to encourage everyone, that nursing school is doable... especially if you love to learn. Sometimes its hard to stay focused with everything thats going on, but if you want it bad enough you will work even harder. When ever I asked how nursing school was before I started, everyone said its hard, terrible, bootcamp like, and difficult... those words kind of got to me and I received a bad outlook on nursing school. But I 'm here to day to tell anyone who's getting ready to start, that so far its not too bad. I absolutely love it !

I love it too. I feel bad when I hear other people complain about it but I really, honestly ENJOY it. I love being at school. Love learning everything. My instructors are amazing. The other people in my classes are all very cool. I hope it continues to be as much fun for me as it is now. I'm very blessed. :)

I feel so lucky to be in nursing school. I see all the people on wait lists and I truly appreciate the honor of being there. I thank God every day for giving me the opportunity.
Yes, it's hard, but it's what I really want to do so I will work hard every day and get the most out of it. I am glad to see that others are enjoying it too.
Keep your positive attitude. I know you'll continue to do well.

Thank you for your wonderful post. I too, love nursing school. There's probably many reasons, but I waited a long time to get here and it's everything I expected. I feel challenged, and excited. I am learning my job!! No more prereqs. Everything is relevant. Everyone in my class has the same objective. We are nurses.
I took my LPN boards in August and passed. Thank you, Lord. Now I have started my RN year. The end is soo near I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. That can really keep you going when your studies bog you down. I look back and see how far I have come and how little I have left.
I am also currently working as an LPN in my local hospital. Wow, now the real learning begins. I must tell you how terrific it feels not to have an instructor looking over my shoulder and grading me. Just having my license makes me feel a little more self-assured and more confident and I can feel the difference in myself as I sit through more lectures.
Keep going, it is so worth it!

I love nursing school, too. It's very, very difficult to get the hundreds of pages of reading finished each week and sometimes I feel like I'm all thumbs in lab...but I really love it. My acceptance was a blessing and the school I attend is absolutely wonderful. Every instructor I encounter is wholeheartedly committed to our success in the program.

I'm with you guys 100%! Friends and family ask me all the time "How's nursing school going," and I have to respond back with, "I absolutely LOVE it!" We're starting clinical rotations at a hospital next week and I cannot wait! Something I've been wanting for 20 years is FINALLY happening!

It's wonderful to read of so many positive NS experiences. Getting into NS is getting a lot more competitive. I think those of us who go through what it takes to get into NS these days probably are more likely to appreciate NS. Also, getting As in pre-reqs helps us learn study skills that work for us, which doesn't hurt. I'd like to think that us students will create a whole new kind of nursing identity. I see so many nurses in my clinicals that make me struggle to imagine them ever having what it takes to sit through hours of learning nursing concepts. They appear to deeply dislike nursing and especially nursing students. Now, nursing students have a higher standard it seems-you have to really want it in order to keep up. I think in a strange way the competition to get into NS is going to be good for the profession.
