April 19, 2016 was a tough night at work. In fact, I was sort of dead for a bit. Massive MI, arrested twice, cardiogenic shock, transferred to Allegheny General in Pittsburgh on life support, stayed on support for two months. Amnesia prior to waking on an LVAD the first week of june. Recovering quite nicely from a transplant July 15.
Life always was a miracle, but I've had an acute reminder. Had I not been at w2ork when my attack struck, I doubt I'd have lived to reach the hospital. Then 70 miles by helicopter to one of the top transplant facilities in the country. I am overwhelmed with the people in my life. I am eternally grateful for the prayers and support of friends, family, and my co-workers. I always knew I had good people in my life, but I'm not sure I fully understood how good.
By the grace of God, I'll have more time to be grateful..

For a minute there I thought you were giving out way too much information about a patient!! Glad I re-read & so glad you were at work when you arrested!
Many good wishes on your continuing recovery!

Wow and wow and wow!
Isn't it always "out of the blue" that such things happen?
Agree, so good you were at work so situation could be responded to appropriately!

This is not at all what I expected to read when I clicked the title. I expected a story about someone that failed their boards 7 times but is definitely meant to be a nurse because they're so kind and generous!
I'm so glad that everything worked out for you to be healing from this! I have always been a huge proponent of organ and tissue donation, and stories like this show why. You'll certainly always have a special empathy in your patient care.
Stay healthy!
