ok so eventually you may be able to find a job where you dont have to deal with people as much but right out of school that is very unlikely.....The simple fact is, Nursing is a very social profession that requires you to have communication skills preferably very good ones. It doesnt sound like Nursing is the profession for you, I honestly feel that you would be very unhappy which would make you hate people even more. As nurses we encounter people when they are at their worst and weakest moments, they do not need nurses that "hate them" or that really don't want to talk to them or their families. Have you thought about doing something in a lab or something like that?

So let's pretend you actually care for a moment.

Florence nightingale is the founder of modern nursing basically.

We quote that we "solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly to pass my life in purity and to practise my profession faithfully." BECAUSE nursing is a healing practice. We don't just shove pills down people's throats, start IVs and have sex with doctors like in the soap operas. We let love guide our practice. We let our hearts and guts react when needed, we understand that God is above all, and ultimately it is up to Him to determine if our patients live or die. Even the most appropriate medical care can be foiled but some unknown reason.

You must accept this, or you will most likely fail as a nurse.

It's true some may use the introverted personality to become the best nurse, ever. But this is hardly ever the case. If you are perceived as the callus nurse, U won't be a friend to management.

I've seen other nurses run people like u off the job, using your bad social skills against U to seem incompetent.

Trust me when I tell u, to search your heart and soul and make sure nursing is what God is leading you to. You will most likely have to fight for the right to be respected, if u don't have good social skills.

Plus there's schools sn clinical a to get through, and trust me, professors pick the runt of the litter and will attempt to fail them, if ur the runt, good luck.

If your trolling, shame on you. I (and most everyone here) understand that we must practice faithfully.

Yes I work at a catholic hospital, but even with my rant; guess what? I don't go to church. My faith lies in My HEART so don't tell me ur not Christian. You are HUMAN and I think u missed the most fundamental gene: empathy.

I haven't read past this comment yet, but feel overwhelmingly compelled to say to you that if you want me to swear an oath, it better not be to God because it would then be a lie. Nursing has absolutely nothing to do with your God in my world. I find your post offensive, not for your faith, but that you believe every nurse should share it.

What's the purpose of this post?

It's one of those strange ones that morph into several different areas.

I personally find these fascinating the way they jump all over the place.

As to what's the purpose of this post, as far as I can tell it doesn't have one.

I decided after the 5th or 6th post it was fake, but read on because I couldn't stop.

Wondering if Medical Examiner would be more fun. It sure looks that way on Rizzoli and Isles or Castle!

I vote for Bones. But she's a forensic anthropologist. Does that count?

It's like the Kardashians. You know it's fake, you know it's stupid, but you really want to find out how Scott weasels his way out of this one.

(Disclaimer: I don't actually watch the Kardashians, but I know people who do. On purpose.)

Sure! I forgot about her!

And I watched Forever too . .. . . "Dr. Henry Morgan, an immortal medical examiner in New York City."

He was handsome too - but it got canceled.:grumpy:

Forget Bones. I want to be a squint! Then you can play with bugs and intestines and dirt. So cool.

You hate people and are really critical of them. Got it. But what is it about YOU that is so superior? What exactly to YOU bring to the table of life which makes you different from these annoying human beings?

Please don't have children. Because they will only be babies for a short time. Then they will develop their own personalities, and they will grow to challenge you and your values rather than worshiping at the altar of YOU.

Finally, get over yourself. People aren't "staring" at you and "looking at you." They are glancing at you briefly, all while wrapped up in their own thoughts and problems. You are just someone who is taking up space in their environment.

There is an appropriate quote here:

"You wouldn't worry so much about what people think about you if you knew how seldom they do."

-Eleanor Roosevelt

IMO you need to see a psychologist or therapist rather than a psychiatrist.

This post is incredibly rude.

Complete BS. There are MANY atheist nurses who I'd rather have care for my loved ones than a bible-thumping nurse that believes that God is using her as a vessel to heal people by his will (or whatever other psycho-babble that nurses like this use). It's fine for you to believe in what you do, but to say that only believers of God can be great nurses is highly offensive.

Your words about "Bible thumping" nurses is just as offensive as the "offensive" post you are ranting about.

OP, I think you would love being a medical examiner. All the pathophysiology, none of the chatter. Every "patient" would be a mystery to solve.

If you have a low threshold for irritating people, I know you will hate nursing. I have no doubt that you can fake it, but would you really want to? That's so much time and money invested to get a job you end up hating. I think you should do some soul searching before classes start.

Your self awareness is a gift. It's very good you recognize these things in yourself.

Yes, I am actually laughing. Good post. :) I catch myself getting irritated in similar ways sometimes. You sound like an introvert (with the whole wanting to see no people at home, and not liking strangers starting conversations with you). I am an introvert as well.

When I feel like shoving someone out of my way I have to take a deep breath and remember the golden rule lol That saves me from a lot of "Ally McBeal" moments. :lol2:

This post is incredibly rude.

Not trying to be rude. But I find her post to be incredibly narcissistic and arrogant. She seems to think large numbers of people are consumed with her. Not so.

And she SAYS she "hates people." I agree with Maya Angelou:

"When someone shows you who they are believe them; the first time."
