I hope I'm allowed to ask this question. How much do you make per hour for private duty? Do you get benefits? I'm ashamed to say that I make 22.50 an hour and I have no benefits. I could sign up for insurance but it's 300.00 a month which I can't afford so I don't even have health insurance. I want a better job but man it's hard to find a job where I live.
I just graduated as an LPN and got hired for private duty nursing. I am making $19/hour with a permanent case. 3-12h shifts. Not an extremely highly skilled shift, so in my small rural town in TN I was happy to get this. The nursing home pays only $14 and the hospital no longer hires LPNs. Also, with having 3 set shifts, I can do PRN with this company or elsewhere. Seems awesome at this point.

Wait,What?
That is CNA pay in my area.
I'm an rn with 1 year experience working ltc in michigan. I took a job in home health working peds 1 patient on vent and feeding tube for 21/ hr. Not great pay but I'm working pt flexible hours with no benifits. I'm learning a lot. I couldn't take the nursing home patient load, never a break and working at a dead run to get it all done. Sofar I'm happy with my choice.
3 different companies:
Agency 1) $22/hr but they would go up to $24 on vent case if desperate.
Agency 2) $24/hr
Agency 3) $27-$30 depending on acuity. I'm at $28/hr (7 years nursing experience, 2.5 years PDN experience) for simple adult Trilogy vent case. I *think* one of the new grad RNs makes $2 less than me.

WOW! I know this is two years late to reply but these rates are crazy! I live in ny and I know cost of living is high here but RN's make min of $40/hr. That's through an agency. Most RN's I know get jobs on their own...$75/hr. Hospitals pay about $45/hr with benefits. I guess it pays to be an RN in ny!
