I had orientation today (08/19/05). That went fine I ordered my books online, saved a lot of money or so I thought! My box arrived today from the online book store empty  :crying2:. I am fit to be tied class officially starts Tue the 23rd & we have reading to do for that day......I have called the post office, they will look for them....The book company I had to email. Geezh what a way to start if I have to buy these books again I will :barf01:

LOL!

I hope I did not offend anyone... the lady parts itself was not giant, but the TV screen was. It was just not what I expected to see when I looked up at that moment. :D

I am sure it is just one of many I will see in the near future.

:icon_hug: Aw man that is horrible! If push comes to shove, maybe you can copy the pages from someone else? But that would be very expensive. No chance of a pop test eh? Now THAT would really get my goat. I hope you're able to get that resolved before class.

Um, since I started school over a month ago I have felt virtually every emotion and been through all the stages of grief/denial/shock. Like this:

:stone :uhoh21:   :banghead: :barf01: :selfbonk: :crying2:

Right now, I am back to this: :uhoh21: + :barf02:

And so is the roller coaster ride I guess.

You guys are cracking me up! I have orientation for gen. program Monday and then hospital orientation on Friday, then the 30th first lecture!

I'm getting pretty nervous if I'll hate it (DH swears I should be an accountant as I'm a spreadsheet freak!)

I had a big scare already! the only thing I still had to do before orientation is my CPR course. My SIL is an instructor and said she'd do it (she offered, I didn't realize she taught it) But at the last minute she said she needed another person and couldn't find one!

I talked to the coordinator for the nurs. program and he said I could take one next week, but that I did risk getting written up at orientation! NOT how I want to start my program!!! Luckily I found a paramedic who is offering a class tomorrow for a bunch of students..so my butt is saved! :imbar

I started class Thursday, My class times are:

8:30 Class Starts

10:15 Break

11:30 Lunch

12:30 Class Starts

1:15 Break

3:20 Class OVER!!

By Monday I will have read 9 Chapters, I have a test Wednesday and an EXAM Thursday and an EXAM Friday. Our fundamentals are divided into units. So I have an exam on F/N 1 and F/N 3. I have only been in class for 2 days and it all feels pretty overwhelming! BUT at the same time I LOVE it!! I know I can do it and YOU can too! I am also married with 2 children a 7 year old boy and a 18 month old boy. So I have my plate full for the next year. I forgot to mention I am in the LPN program that last 12 months at JCJC .. a junior college. Good Luck to all!!

I started my first day of nursing school June 6th. It is an ADN program, 18 months straight through. I have to say I was pretty overwhelemed, but I suggest to get plenty of notebooks, highlighters and something that I used were those little post it note flags to mark pages in the book. That way it is easy to reference to certain pages and subjects, rather than search through the book. I don't know, it helped me. And since I had so many heavy books, I got from Wal-Mart almost a luggage bag, one that has wheels and you can pull because there was no way I could have used a plain backpack! :uhoh3: But now that I am getting ready to have finals on Monday, I have to say I was very happy with my first semester. I have straight A's right now! Yeah! :rotfl: Basically, just use your first week to feel out what you need as far as supplies because everybody uses different things and you might get some ideas from your classmates. Good luck and have fun!!!

Awwwwffffffuuuuullllll!!! We started school Monday (15th of Aug) and had orientation all day. The next day we had skills check off on Sq, IM, IV piggyback, NG tube and Physical Assessment. I screwed up horribly on the injection station. I had to draw up demerol and phenergan in the same tube. I was so nervous and the professor checking me off made me even more nervous. She kept asking me questions that took me awhile to answer and we only had 50min to complete all 5 stations. She was really mean and kept looking at me like I was stupid. I ended up having to redo that area.

Then in lecture I couldnt stay focused b/c of the awful job I did no checkoff. I started thinking that I wasnt suppose to be a nurse and that I should just get up and leave class now. (This is my second and last year of nursing school.) I only hope that this week is better.

Well I kind of have mixed feelings, we got right to work, and the class seems to be full of dedicated individuals except one who said she thought she could make a lot of money. We got right to work and had to read a whole unit, I'm just confused on what to take notes on, since we have the reading assignment before the lecture. We were also told not to expect to make A's

So far great posts, keep them comming. One tip I just recently heard on this site was to debind big books and carry only what is needed. Kinko's does it.

I think I will do this. :)
