  1. The drive is about 40 miles one way.. the gas would be about $60.00 a week because I have a SUV. My children are 9 & 2 1/2 and my inlaws would be watching them while I would be at work. They watched them while I went to school. Another reason I am considering the job is because they are going to cross train me in doing ultrasounds and xray (KUB's only). I would have additional schooling which they would pay for. I think this would be a great oppurtunity and would look great on a resume.. I was just wondering what all the other new graduates were doing and if they were in the same boat as I am.
  2. I too am having the same trouble .. I live in a small town where there is a hospital but they wanted me to work nights.. well I am married and have 2 children so that was out of the question.. There are clinics here but everyone holds on to their job because they don't want to drive 40 miles to go to work. SO,, as a new grad I am going to take a position that requires me to drive 40 miles ONE WAY.. every day to go to work. It is at a Urology clinic. Is there anyone else out there that travels a long distance just to get to work? And how does it affect your family life? I will be off all weekends and holidays and it is M-F 8-5. I am still iffy about the drive. Does anyone have any advice for me? TIA
  3. I also have a GED. I am also a LPN! Graduated nursing school with a 3.7 GPA and took the NCLEX and passed 1st try!
  4. not really sure but IMO I would renew it! The more certificates usually the more you get paid.. esp if you are planning on going to work in the ER! not sure if this helped.. but good luck in your decision
  5. I put in my application today at a Assisted Living Facility.. I talked to the owner who is also a RN and she said if all of my references are good she would be calling me. She showed me the nurses desk and then walked me around the facility. We did not discuss pay or anything like that.. I know that I would be the only NURSE there and only work 7-3 M-F and would be on call if needed.. CNA's stay there during the night.. I would basicaly be over the CNA's and give meds.. call in doctors appointments and so on.. My question is what kind of pay do these kinds of places offer? I really want to work there because it seems like it would be wonderful!! Also there is about 20 patients. I am a new grad and this would be my first job.. if anyone has any info on assisted living that would help I would greatly appreciate you posting a reply!
  6. I am not working nor am I in school.. But the reason I am wearing scrubs today is that I help with my husbands grandmother . She has early stages of Alzheimers and when I go to her house I wear my scrubs.. they are ironed and I am very neat in appearance.. thanks for your reply!!
  7. Do you think this is appropriate? Just wondering.. it is not an acutal interview I am just going around from place to place to fill out applications and do not feel like getting all dressed up until they call back for an interview.. Just wondering if anyone else has done this or should I just dress up anyway.. thanks in advance for the replies!!
  8. Got my results today and I PASSED!!!!!: :biggringi Now... time to CELEBRATE!!
  9. The answer to your question is YES. There have been people to fail w/85 questions.. But the majority with 85 questions pass. I also recently took the NCLEX-PN and I am waiting for my results. My computer also cut off at 85 and I feel that I have failed because the questions were extremely difficult!! I called my BON to see when the results will be posted and she said tomorrow.. I will post to let ya know how I did. Good Luck to you!
  10. I am currently waiting on my NCLEX-PN results. My state does not offer quick results. Do you know once the BON gets the results be it pass or fail, will anything show up if you fail? Or will it say inactive? I heard it will say active if you passed.. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be very helpful and very appreciated..
  11. I took my NCLEX-PN Friday Sept. 1st. I was wondering, since my state (Mississippi) does not offer quick results, Do you think the BON would post any new license info on a Sunday? I am really worried about how I did. The computer cut off at 85 and I am just wanting to know if I passed or failed!! So if anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate if you would post a reply! Thanks in advance!
