Did you Have a party? go out to eat? Jump up and down?
I was anxiously awaiting my letter, and they were going out later than the school originally said. I asked my little brother to call me if anything came in the mail (it was a Saturday and I had to work.) Instead, my brother drove the letter to my work and I practically ripped it open. After I got off work, my family and I went to dinner. My sweet boyfriend gave me a gift - a stethoscope he had bought "knowing I'd get in." Now... anxiously awaiting my July start date!
I opened my letter, jumped up and down, and told my immediate family and a few close friends. I didn't go out to eat, didn't throw a party, and didn't do anything else. I felt no need to flaunt the fact that I got in while some of my close friends were dealing with rejection letters. Getting in and knowing that I will be starting in August, and the realization that all my hard work has paid off, were enough for me.
I ran in the house with the envelope and sat down at the table to open it with my five year old son. As soon as I read "we are please to...." I started jumping up and down screaming.
I scared my 5 year old so badly, he thought I was having some sort of mental break down. "Mommy are you sick?"
Then I called my husband and mother. Then my husband and I went out to eat/celebrate that night!
I was walking in the Nursing Dept. hall of my school with a fellow member of the La Raza Student Union after our weekly meeting. I see that the lottery results were posted on the bulletin board and tell him that I need to stop and check this list really quickly. So I start scanning the list, not knowing what to expect.
Surprise! There is my name, #14 out of 23 lucky students selected. I start jumping up and down and cheering. Then I throw my arms around my compañero and give him a big ole' kiss on the cheek and a hug. Awesome.
I got my acceptance via email and I must have looked at it again a hundred times over the few days after I recieved it to make sure it really said accepted. I just did lots of jumping and screaming. Called my whole family and posted on facebook. It was a super busy week so we never made it out to celebrate. I still get giddy when I think about the fact that I got in (and it's been three weeks since I found out). I was so nervous about being accepted because I only applied to one school and they accept about 5% of their applicants. Congrats to everyone else who made it!!!
Celebrated my sons birthday that day and then went to the hospital!
Lol, I had been having really bad breathing problems for 5 days and that was the 3rd time I went to the hospital. Thankfully I went to a better one than the first 2 times. That hospital kept me for 2 days and they figured out what was wrong with me. I had trauma to the chest and air had collected in my mediasteinum (sp) anyway. Im better now but it was a very memorable day!
