Lies of the ER.....
I agree with the shock too. We lost our son at 20 weeks and even knew for 8 weeks before he would not live long. Weekly ultrasounds to check him for when he passed away and then right before the last u/s I lost some plug, had blood and a few contractions and knew that he was gone in my heart before we went for the last ultrasound and even with all that warning it was still like walking in a strange dream when we saw his heart had stopped beating... yes, I think it was shock. That poor woman!

How did you celebrate your nursing school acceptance letter?
Celebrated my sons birthday that day and then went to the hospital! Lol, I had been having really bad breathing problems for 5 days and that was the 3rd time I went to the hospital. Thankfully I went to a better one than the first 2 times. That hospital kept me for 2 days and they figured out what was wrong with me. I had trauma to the chest and air had collected in my mediasteinum (sp) anyway. Im better now but it was a very memorable day!

Just for fun; Quotes you use for encourgement
HAHAHAHA! LOVE it! This is a verse I have taped by my computer and I look at it often. It helps me with school and just life in general.. -And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

My situtation (adn vs. bsn)
I doubt she was putting anyone down. When you are looking to apply to nursing schools you naturally look into them and try to make the best choice for you. There are going to be better schools than others. It does not have anything to do with if its a BSN or ASN program because it all just has to do with each particular school and where you live. All you can do is go off information you can find about the schools.. it may or may not be accurate but you just make the best choice you can for youself and your own situation. The OP asked for advice and we are all trying to give her the best we can. GL with your finals!:redbeathe

Nursing specialities and various attitudes ("not real nursing")
I think it all boils down to pride. People want to feel like they are better than other people. They think that their job is the hardest of all, or that their job takes only the best people and that other places take just anybody. It makes them feel better for some reason. Its not true for sure and it only causes strife. I know its easier said than done, but dont listen to them.

Should I take Physiology in the summer?
I did it during the summer and got an A. It was a 10 week course though. I had 3 kids at the time (4 now lol). If you have no kids and have the time to devote to it and also have been getting good grades then I dont see why you cant do it. GL!!

So Fustrated!! Please help!!
watch the videos, do the chapter practice tests, listen to the lectures, and try to draw the structures and the steps that may help too. tape up papers around the house so that wherever you go you can look at it and be learning. take your 3 by 5 cards with you everywhere and whenever you get a free moment look at them. also, make sure you do get enough sleep. not having enough can affect your memory. try to get a little exercise everyday because that can help with your memory and make you feel better. make sure you take your vitamins. it is healthy as well as it can help your memory and give you energy. how many classes are you taking each semester? if you spread yourself out to much there just is not enough time and energy to do it all. also, this may sound weird but attitude makes a difference. when i was taking my statistics class i really didn’t like it and thought it was so boring. i tried to convince myself when i was studying that it really was interesting and that i did like it. it didn’t work 100% but it did seem to help me get through it and do a better job.

My situtation (adn vs. bsn)
I'm sure it really depends on the schools.. here where I live the ADN program is more highly praised by many more in the hospitals around here than our local BSN program. Also the ADN program has a higher nclex pass rate. The other and biggest reason for me why I chose that is it is less credits to deal with per semester and since I also have 4 children that was important. Now if I didn't have kids I would probably end up going the bsn route. Every person has to look at their own situation and then try to make the best decision they can. GL!

Mixed Emotions About Nsg School
I am going to be starting my program in the Fall. I chose to go with my CC instead of the University even though I have all the prereqs done for the university because the CC is less credits a semester and I am hoping that by doing it that way I will not be "unavailable" to the children as much as I would be doing 2X the credits. I have 4 kids, a 5 year old boy, a soon to be 7 girl , soon to be 1 girl and soon to be 3 boy (all in the next 2 months lol). I feel very blessed however because my husbands parents are going to be moving down from new england to live in a Camper in our backyard. They will be helping watch the kids while I am in school. I also homeschool my older 2 children and plan to continue doing it. I will go year round with it and only take off for days that will be long days of clinicals or when they are sick and of course weekends or major holidays. We have been and will continue to make their schooling just as important but more so than my own schooling. I am nervous about it all but I was also nervous when I was going to do prereqs too. It has worked out and I hope that in some way my children will see what I am doing and learn from it with themselves. My husband works full time and has been doing his pre reqs the last couple of years part time. The plan is he will start his clinicals about 8 months before I graduate from mine. I understand your fears and frusterations.. I know it may not help but really there is no perfect situation in life and your children know that you love them and it may end up being a good thing in the end because it really could teach them lessons. Maybe your oldest will start learning to be more responsible with his own homework these next couple of years. It will all be ok, it really will! :) I think part of what has helped me the last month to not feel as badly about everything is that a few weeks ago I started having difficulty breathing and it got so bad I thought I was going to pass out and die before I could make it to the hospital. I have just recently been getting better from this but during the worst of the time with all of my breathing difficulties (lasted 2 weeks struggling to breath every moment. It was awful!) I kept thinking about how my kids are so young and I hope I wouldnt die and leave them without a mother. Since I am now recovering and almost better completely. I feel like I regret that I will not be around for the children as much but how thankful I am that I am around for the time I am and that my children will learn lessons through everything and in the end they will be better people for it. They have so much more than many children do in this world and have so much to be thankful for. No their lives are not "perfect" but no one's is. Going through lifes difficulties builds character... Yeah, now I sound like MY mom. LOL Everything will work out for you and your children. They will be OK. :redpinkhe
