I just wanna say THANK YOU! to AllNurses.com!
I am a new nurses and have been on this site many times with many, many, many questions! And all feedback has been great, information, and educational!
One example: I was just coming off orientation and my confidence was very shakey! Can I be a nurse without my preceptor? Will I make the right nursing judgement calls for my patient? etc...I read others stories on this site and I realized that I was not alone! I'm happy this site is here so I can relate with others when I've had a long day.
Thanx!
How has All Nurses.com helped you?!?

I had recently graduated, hadn't written my RN exam yet. Within 2 weeks of posting on AN, I made a friend and got my first nursing job through her. It's almost a year later and I'm at the same job. Thanks AN :)

I have no other contact with nurses, or my "past life" when I was working. I still keep my license current (at least until they start asking for hours worked, then I'll be forced to give it up), and miss the good relationships with my co-workers. They are still in contact via FB, but it's not the same as being able to yak about work-related stuff....whether from the past experience I have or learning new things I've "met" some nifty people here
I know some folks here are questioning their decision to go into nursing, but there are also a lot of us "lifers".....it's not ALL of who we are, but it takes/took up so much of our lives that it's almost like another part of our brain that is totally nursing- and never really turns off (which can be a pain at times - LOL).

It is really comforting to know that some of the feelings I have and the things I experience are not unique to me. Knowing that others share the same sort of issues and finding out what they do to resolve it is very helpful.

At times this forum has been a lifeline, especially when there are things I haven't wished to discuss with colleagues at work.

AN is a great place to vent after having a long and stressful day be it work, school, co-workers u name it, these people are there for you! I truly believe it's a Godsend and has also sent good vibes my way because every post or thread that I've been a part of has resulted in a happy ending.....from graduating NS, NCLEX, and landing dream job in NICU which I start on Sep 26th, can't wait!
I even recall while taking NCLEX, and referring back to the Infection Control mneumonic (My Chicken Hez TB) I'd gotten from AN and was able to apply it to the overload of infection control questions I had during the exam. It was awesome, and I'm quite sure I got a lot of those correct since I'd studied it extensively. I even shared it with classmates who all said it definitely helped with their infection control questions as well. THANKS AN for the tips, support and encouragement provided! U all totally rock.....

This forum makes me thankful for how good nurses in my unit have it.
When I read about the dangerous and overloaded conditions some nurses work under, I am thankful.
When I look around at my fellow weekend crew, I see nurses who have worked with me for 10+ years.
There is a reason for our longevity-good working conditions.

i've learned a lot from this site -- it gives me some insight into how others look at things and why. it's helped me a lot to understand what new nurses today are thinking . . . and how it's different from what i'm thinking. i think it makes me a better colleague and a better preceptor.
then, of course, there are the laughs i get -- allnurses.com has brightened many a day!
