Hesi every semester, this time over fundamentals

I didn't put this in the HESI forum because it is not an entrance or exit exam. We have to take the hesi every semester, and this semester is my first time. It's over fundamentals, and I was wondering if anyone had anything specific they studied or would have studied had they known. Any advice? I feel like I'm buying books just to buy them at this time. Point me in the right direction!

Review your power points/notes/ concepts you missed questions over on your lecture and skills exam. At this point if you don't know the bulk there's not really much helping now. But you know more then you think. Keep in mind what you should do first for patients. Just practice some NCLEX questions till then.

I feel your pain --- our finals in patho, fundamentals, and health assessment are all HESI and count 20% of our final grades.. I also have no idea how to study.. using the previous suggestion and reviewing notes and doing NCLEX questions..

I have NCLEX 4000 software that allows to test in specific subject areas and find that helpful.

Best of luck.

I bought a hesi online review, which only has 75 questions and that was a waste of my money. I bought a hesi review book with questions that I will be working through this week. My only fear is that the 2nd year students tell us that if you are an "A" student, you'll find the hesi difficult, and those who are "C" students say it is their saving grace. It is only one test and I have a good buffer right now, but I just want to nail it. The absolute worst part of nursing school is not knowing what to expect on a test.

Best of luck to you as well 203bravo.

I did the practice HESI the day of the test and that was all I did. Ours was Med-Surg only. I did really well on it.

I am an A student and I did very well on the HESI at the end of Fundamentals. I did not study much except to do practice questions at my leisure. Good luck to you. You will probably do just fine.

Ours is Kaplan, same thing, after the semester. But we aren't graded on it, at least, not for this first semester. It's more of a way to see our progress.

I remember getting a lot of questions on different types of suctioning: equipment needed, safety precautions. We didn't learn that in fundamentals so I had no idea and wished I'd looked into it.

I just took my health assessment HESI two days ago, and I did pretty well. I didn't study a lick - although ours is a portion of our grade, I already have an A in the class and it's a very small portion. I looked at it as an opportunity to see what I actually know - not what I can figure out, not I what can guess at after narrowing down the answers, what I KNOW. I didn't spend longer than 30 seconds on any question, and I ended up with 81% conversion score (whatever that means - I read through the report twice and still couldn't figure it out.) and scored higher than 60% of RN students last year. It's not GREAT, but this semester was wild with outside of school stuff that stole a lot of my time and got me behind in the first half of the semester. So I look at it like, okay, even with everything that was going on, I still managed to retain most of what we covered. And there were several questions over material we didn't even cover in class. It's an assessment - a snapshot in time, just to see where you are right now. Don't sweat it.

Evolve has HESI Case studies and reviews and it has practice tests and quizzes for each of the different subject exams and the comprehensive. I'm not sure how much it costs since my school gave us each an access code to it. It gives very similar questions as the HESI (same company). The site is evolve.elsevier.com.
