Help Pls...ca Nclex Passer Without Ssn

Hi there.. I hope someone could enlighten me with this..

I recently passed the NCLEX RN CA and will be taking the IELTS real soon. I'm in the Philippines and I don't have an SSN. Thus, I was informed that they cannot issue me my license. Add to that, they would destroy my file 3 years without their receipt of my SSN.

I don't have any idea on what to do next. How do I get this SSN? Am aware that they cannot issue me SSN since I'm not a US citizen nor have I ways to go there. Should I just find an agency to do all the works for me or should I apply for my visa screen? Cause I was thinking of applying for my visa screen first before I find my agency plus I will be starting work only only next month.

Can someone tell me the process of how to get a visa screen? The steps and who to contact, through the internet perhaps. I really have no idea how to do it.

Another thing is my family's suggesting to transfer my license to another state..Again, how do I go about it? Is my license needed before I can apply for reciprocity..I was thinking maybe NY, Florida or Chicago.

I'm sorry I have too many questions..I hope many could reply to my queries. Thanks in advance

VT licenses are only valid for two years, but they are issued at the same time and depending on when you apply and where it is in the cycle, it can be for only six months or so and then needs to be renewed. No sense at all in doing this now.

thank you so much for the replies..really helped me in deciding..

yes i'm a local board passer..i think i would just have to wait for years and see what i would do from then..

U might wanna see this link.. it's a post from fruity about how she got her VT license by transferring her NCLEX result from CA:

I'm just wondering why some say that a person cannot endorse w/o a license number. i got really confused by this because when i emailed the texas board of nursing, they clearly stated that i fill up the ENDORSEMENT form, not the examination form. i know of a nurse who also didn't have a license number but got a texas license via endorsement.

i emailed vermont BON and they told me to download the endorsement/examination form. i chose vermont over texas because they don't have much requirements. i only had to submit the letter from CA-BON and fill up some parts of the application form and in less than i week, i already have a license number on their website.

To endorse you need a license and Ca do not issue a license without a SSN. Each BON will have their own requirements so best thing to do is contact them when in doubt. They do at the end of the day have the final decision

The process of getting licensed in another state is called ENDORSEMENT.

But that means that one already holds a license from another state. When you write the exam for a state that does not issue a license number without having the SSN#, then there is actually no license number to endorse.

Texas also requires the CES, they will not issue a license without that. So one cannot apply to them and get a license number any longer in a week.

Issue still is that licenses for the most part are only valid for two years and then need to be renewed, quite a few of the states will not renew a license if there is no SSN# submitted to them.

Each state can set their own requirements, but the word endorsement means that something is behind something. As in someone endorsing a candidate for office. If you also look at the application for any state for endorsement, it states to use that form when you have a license number, and that is what Americans use as well when they want a license in a new state. You need an license number to be able to endorse.

Once you take the NCLEX exam and passed it, you don't have to take it again.

If you are planning to go for VT, then you just have to apply for endorsement/application. In VT, their application for foreign nurses are the same for Initial Licensure and Licensure by endorsement. In most States, it is a separate application but fortunately in VT it is one and the same.

You just need to send in your copy of test results to them that you passed the NCLEX. There is no score in NCLEX. It's just either a pass or a fail.

Please go ahead and download VT's application (initial licensure/endorsement) and read the instructions.

One member here, interpreted the instructions that the applicant can send in their copy of passing NCLEX themselves after reading the instructions, some just went ahead and just requested CA BRN to send in an official copy of test results ($10 in CA BRN's website) to be sure.

If you will have further inquiries regarding the details, pls. e-mail or call the contact person indicated on the application form for foreign-educated nurses.

Thay just require you to furnish pages one and 3 for application in vermont if you nalready passed the nclex-rn in other state

my california license will not expire for another 2 years or so.. then 6 months before that will i only start to apply for licensure in another state to keep my nclex result alive? what happens if i still cannot find an employer, or get a visa or even gain experience here in the philippines and the expiration has lasped and still no ssn?

sidenote: is being a company nurse credited as "experience" for some employers? because there really is an over supply of nurses here.. i even thought of getting a master's degree just so i can "do" something compared to being here...typing and surfing..

If you haven't already got a employer then you haven't even joined the queue yet for retrogression therefore the likelihood on getting a visa in 2 years is very very slim. The best thing you can do is before your Ca time lapses is apply to another state and move your NCLEX results across. You will have to meet the states requirements for foreign trained nurse

You do not have a CA license, that is what we are trying to explain to you. You are not listed on their website as having a license issued to you; therefore you cannot consider yourself a US RN either.

If you do not have actual hospital bedside experience, then it is going to be quite difficult to get hired by a hospital if they are asking for experience. Company nurses do not practice at the bedside, therefore that experience is not going to count towars bedside experience.

We are all very aware of the over supply of nurses in your country, suggest that you look at other countries to gain paid work experience in an hospital.

ok i understand that i only passed the nclex and am not a license holder or anything. can you suggest which state will allow me to have a license or not destroy my file for passing the nclex if i am not able to secure an ssn like in 5-8 years? like i can still renew my license even if i dont have an ssn..thank you again for you help.

You have to apply from the start to another state and go through the process again. Ca may extend your application by 12 months but that has to be done via a letter and not always a guarantee. Suggest a good read in this forum as many have posted about this situation
