Has anyone done the WGU online RN to BSN program?

Has anyone taken any classes from , the RN to BSN program? It looks like a great program, but the classes are not your typical pay per class style. They go by a 6 month period, you pay a fee for that period and can take or test out of as many classes as you would like.

I also like the fact that when I told them I could not start until the fall of 2010 they kept my name and information on file and update me once a month, but are not pushing. I filled out a form for info on another college 2 days ago and they haven't stopped calling, calling, calling since. I do not like the pressure tactics. Thank you.:uhoh3:

Talk to your Course Mentor early and often. Schedule time with them for 1:1 instruction every week.

Hi I am currently enrolled into my first term and I am taking biochemistry which is extremely difficult. I am in their prelicense bsn program. Do you have an pointers?

Biochemistry was rough for me too at first. I procrastinated because the tasks seemed overwhelming. I panicked when my first attempt at turning it in was rejected. Then I went through the feedback provided for every single problem I was required to fix which helped alot. I turned in the re-corrected work and it was rejected again. But this time the feedback provided showed I just had to make one or two minor corrections/changes and the third turn in was accepted.

The best advice I can give regarding biochemistry is to dive in doing the tasks, finish them ASAP, and turn them in so you can get feedback on what to fix. Don't bother reading through the recommended material, chapters, etc. Just start the tasks. If there's something you feel you need to know in order to do a task or part of a task just look it up in the text, although I'm pretty sure I used google far more than the text (throughout the program as well).

I'd give that same advice for the rest of the classes, especially your last few classes. Some of them seem overwhelming until you start them and just dive in. Then once you're done you realize they weren't so bad.

They changed bicochem recently. Now the studddents have to take an OA.

So did they get rid of those 5 tasks you have to do??? All that drawing and having to build models???

Yes, I believe so. From what I gather however, the OA can be tricky. I would do the 5 tasks any day to be honest.

Yeah the arts and crafts biochem has been gone a while. It's now an OA.

We don't have to turn in any task. We have an OA in the end. In between, we have a lot of reading and videos to watch to help us understand the material. They also have an optional cohort to help keep us on track if we need the help and reminders. They have "check your understanding" after each section to see if we understand the material as we work through it. It's just a lot of information and I'm not sure if I am retaining it. I have an appointment to meet with a course mentor in a few days but I want to make sure I am prepared.

I had a similar experience to luckystudentnurse above. I was all set to start the RN-BSN program in Utah and they wanted the tuition up front. I had serious doubts about being able to finish the desired classes on time, not knowing their structure. I started to look for other RN-to-BSN Programs in Utah and found Nightingale. Their online RN-to-BSN program is accredited and cost $375/semester credit. I didn't need to take any additional GEs (thanks for never accepting me!), so I completed their program in 8 months. It cost me around 9k for the program.

I know several nurses that went to WGU and it is a good school, but I'm glad I found Nightingale College. Their BSN capstone project helped me standout and I'm currently being considered for the DON position!!!

great info thx

I took both the OA and the task version(failed the task version) but passed the Oa.

Trust me,the OA is easier.

Also,Professional roles and values no longer has an OA.

It is 3 tasks now.

If you are attending ,be aware that most of the comments before 2016 no longer apply to the school.

Most classes have gotten harder since then. Not sure why they want to slow people down.

I just graduated from 9/2017, RN to BSN. I began this journey 5/2016. I did have a ADN degree prior and most of all my classes were accepted. I had to take Bio-Chem and Statistics again for Bio-Chem is required for and Statistics was over seven years old. I truly found my groove in the second semester and finished a total of 9 classes in six months. My first semester was only 6 classes basically 30 days for each class. Honestly, I could of finished everything in one year though life happened. I am a mother of 5 children and work 2 nursing jobs, I sadly lost my mother in law to cancer in 12/16 to which I fought hard and long with her during that seven months with WGU. So you see it depends on you and your dedication. In the end I only had two more classes in my third semester and finished in September at a leisure pace.

My graduation package is finished and I am just waiting on that diploma. Now on a side note; I should of went RN to MSN. I didn't do that because honestly I was afraid WGU would be one more failure of achieving that BSN, it wasn't. I will start my MSN journey 12/1/17.

I am here for questions, I believe in WGU and so should you!

hi what's an OA? how hard is this to complete in 6 months if you are working part time? thanks
