Has anyone done the WGU online RN to BSN program?

Published

Has anyone taken any classes from Western Governors University, the RN to BSN program? It looks like a great program, but the classes are not your typical pay per class style. They go by a 6 month period, you pay a fee for that period and can take or test out of as many classes as you would like.

I also like the fact that when I told them I could not start until the fall of 2010 they kept my name and information on file and update me once a month, but are not pushing. I filled out a form for info on another college 2 days ago and they haven't stopped calling, calling, calling since. I do not like the pressure tactics. Thank you.:uhoh3:

This will depend on you, generally most finish this program in a year. It will also depend on what classes you already have taken and what is transferred. WGU took almost all my classes. I finished in a year working two jobs. You are tested in some classes and have task in the all. They grade each one with a pass. They do have a rubric to follow with all instructions. If you want to obtain your BSN this is the place to do it. As for 6 months I have read some have done it.

hi what's an OA? how hard is this to complete in 6 months if you are working part time? thanks

An OA is an Objective Assessment (aka a multiple choice test). A PA is a Performance Assessment and is usually a paper, but could also be a powerpoint, video or some other means of assessment.

I finished the RN-to-BSN in one term (23 CU) and the MSN in two.

there is one thing I don't like with WGU which the required 90 hours of community base research if you are a California students.

Good choice, I dropped out of UofP 5 years ago, I was going for psychology and I'm still 18k in the hole. I only went there for two years. Now I'm getting my ADN and then hope to obtain my BSN from WGU out of pocket. No more loans!!!! They are the worst on the planet. They make the dips in life harder than necessary. I was 20k in debt wen I told U of P I couldn't take out anymore loans, I needed to get these ones paid off and then I would go back to school. They laughed at me and told me I was unrealistic for thinking I could leave school to pay off debt and then return. I told them transfer my credits to the community college, they call me to do this day asking me to come back. Never. So far grants have covered every pre-req for the ADN and I take my entrance exam in December.

I am signed up to start my RN to BSN program June 1st and I'm hoping I can take several classes in the one payment block. I have 12 classes total to take to achieve my BSN since nursing is a second career for me. I really hope they offer an NP program in the near future! That's my end goal!

Hi bellafsu89,

how are your classes going at WGU? I would like to attend once I finish my ADN program.
