Mornin' all. I got my first dose today and I feel almost tearfully relieved and energized to be on this side of history. I thought I would start a thread dedicated to the experience of being vaccinated, so that we can share info with those who are still on the fence or who are watchful waiting to see how things go.
My hospital got 5000 doses delivered on Tuesday. We have given almost half of that already in the last two days. Participation is voluntary and divided into tiered groups based on patient exposure. Those who volunteer (still paid but outside normal job duties) to work the employee Covid vaccine clinic we have set up can also get it, which is how I was eligible to get it already today.
Getting the second dose is crucial for any protection, so we make an appointment to come back for the second dose on exactly day 21. We will get another shipment from Pfizer in time for that. My wait time in line was about 30 minutes in all. The first day employees showed up and waited over 2 hours, cheerfully. There is a LOT of positivity and hope going on here surrounding this, which feels amazing.
We go to an observation room for 10 minutes after the injection, where we were given bottled water and single serving snacks while we observe for any allergic reaction.
The injection itself was nothing. Easiest shot I have ever gotten by far. I don't even have any arm soreness so far. I will touch base if I start to get any kind of side effects.
Anyone else getting theirs yet?

And last night the side effects knocked me on my butt... fever, chills, sweats, headache. Still have the headache this morning, but the rest has eased up.

anecdotally, I am 56, on an immune suppression drug and had little to no side effects for either the first or second pfizer vaccine.
I got #2 yesterday. Woke up in the night with a sore deltoid where I got the shot, intermittent stabbing headache, and flank pain. I finally succumbed and took Tylenol. No fever as yet. For what its worth, I am 63.
Workmates ages 60 and 63, both had fevers, headaches and malaise for 2 days afterwards. All of us had Moderna. My supervisor, age 62 had no ill effects after both doses of Pfizer.
Sore arm after 1st dose for about 2 days, otherwise no side effects. Got 2nd dose two weeks later. Started feeling crummy about 16 hours out- sore muscles/joints, headache, nausea, general malaise. Lasted less than a day and then felt completely fine. Just my immune response doing it's job, so I'm actually glad for the reaction in a way ?
Would get again in a heartbeat. Have been working on a covid floor since March and feel so much safer knowing I am protected in any way.
About a week after getting the second dose of Pfizer I started having moderate shortness of breath/light headed/palpitations. I ended up in the ER twice; my coworkers hooked me up to take me down I was in bigeminy. My only abnormal lab was my d dimer. Chest CT was inconclusive but they didn’t think a VQ scan was warranted. All this bought me a two week holter which showed: bigeminy, short runs of v tach and SVT. I also had second degree heart block a couple times but that wasn’t concerning.
Im on metoprolol which has been controlling it well. I’m hoping it’s a short term problem. I know I won’t know for sure if it was related to an rare vaccine reaction or it’s just coincidental. I did report it to VAERs to let them figure it out. I don’t regret getting the vaccine because covid can be far worse then that. Hope everyone is staying safe. ❤️
"SummitRN" stated that no one has died after receiving the Covid vaccine... that's not 100% true. According to the CDC's own website, "2,509 reports of death (0.0017%) among people who received a COVID-19 vaccine (between Dec 2020 - March 29, 2021)."

Also, a former Detroit TV anchor died just one day after getting the shot.

And an elderly man died hours after getting the shot...

I'll admit, most probably had underlying issues and it's possible that the Covid vaccine was not to blame. But it's not accurate to state "zero deaths" after getting the Covid shot.

I did read an article that stated zero deaths had been confirmed from the Covid shot. So maybe that is where SummutRN got the info. I don’t think they can definitively say that the vaccine caused any deaths yet.

Got my first Moderna 12/28, the day after my uncle died of COVID in the same hospital, only localized arm soreness for the next two days.
Got my second Moderna 1/27. Localized arm soreness 1/28 a.m., then started noticing an ache in my right elbow (shot received in right arm). As I continued working, the aches spread to my back then knees. I was helping hold a pt as a CNA and RN were administering an enema and I felt hot and clammy. As soon as the procedure was done and I made sure the other two had the pt, I stumbled into the break room. Another CNA was there and immediately got me water. I felt hot and light-headed and was trying to lie down before I passed out. My BP was 83/64, she rechecked and it was 81/60, then dropped to 70/40. I started feeling better and called my husband to take me home after refusing the ER (we have a high-deductible plan and I’m trying to avoid the ER at all costs). The next day I woke up to every joint in my body aching and a low-grade fever (I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had a fever, low-grade or over 100.5). I called out and took two naps that day and was completely fine the next day.
