First Day of Second Semester? How did it go?

Today was my first day back and I must say GOOOODDDD GRAAAAVEEEYYY!!:uhoh21:

Our professors threw so much information and projects at us I thought my brain was going to explode. I have to keep reminding myself to take things one day at a time. My first clinical is this friday in OB, I have clinical orientation on Wed, I didn't get the clinical site I wanted, we have IV checkoffs next week, and I have to do a project for a health fair. I'm not good at talking to a huge group of people. One on one anyday but a group of 5 or more I start stuttering and shaking. I just hope I do as well as I did last semester this semester. Out of a class of 108 only 87 of us remain and that's not including the LPN's we now have added to our class. It was so sad to realize everyone who was missing and didn't make it.

How did your first day go?

My day went ok seeing as I couldnt sleep last night:o..i gotta get my sleeping schedule back to school time...I started Med/Surg and it seems like its gonna be tuff..The stuff they threw at us was overwhelming..Oh well everything will be ok when i get the swing of things. We get to do a rotation in Oncology, ER, OR(which i am looking forward to) and some more (Its too late to think). Micro is gonna be ok. We get to have a test every week(which will be exciting:uhoh21:) and I started on my online basic pharmacology class (I hope it will help with the meds)..any ways I knew its going to be tuff but Im just glad I am still hanging in and I plan on staying until graduation!!Good Luck to everyone and I hope your day back was good. :)

let me just say that A&P is going to kick my butt! lol

It was nice to see some familiar faces again, but lord, its going to be a lot of work! a lot more than any of us imagined!

good luck to all of you!

Specializes in ER, Medicine.

Today my half of the class had a clinical rotation in an Alzheimer's center here in town. We were just oriented to the facility and had a lecture by the staff. It was sooo interesting. Better than I thought it would be.

I am completely dreading going back. I start back Jan 31st. I've been finding it impossible to pick up and read my nursing books. I had planned on catching up on my readings, but this is not happening. I've missed my friends, and my life a little too much during the semester that I can't imagine going back now.

I have been sick on and off non-stop since september, I guess I'm just worn out. The worst part is that last week when i was out of town I got soooo sick that I could barely stand without getting exhausted, and you could feel my lungs vibrating while I was breathing in, if you put your hand on my back. I have always wanted to hear this with a stethoscope, and mine was 1,000 miles away:chuckle go figure!

Shouldn't I be excited about going back? I am terrified that it is all going to fall to pieces.

Today was so incredibly overwhelming that I'm still trying to catch my breath. We had a clinical math exam today at 8am and then we had orientation for clinical where we have to do all sorts of projects... in addition to the two other classes we are all taking, pharm being one of them. One day at at time!!! Good luck to everyone this semester!

I thought at first that it wouldn't be too bad, with only one class to study for instead of 3. There is more clinical work this time around, which I expected. But my teacher gave us a zillion hard core assignments to complete throughout the semester. :angryfire 3 semesters to go and counting.......

Can I just say ughhhhh!!!!:chair: We have class everyday for the first two weeks and have our dosage and solutions test this friday that we have to pass with a 100%...ummmmm...no pressure! 4 semesters to go and counting!!

Specializes in LTC.
:o OMG is all I can say. Been back three days and had 11Chapters already, plus 5 thick handouts, and god knows how many drug cards to do, and start clinicals Thursday............. :uhoh21:

My first day back will be the 18th....

Kind of looking forward to it actually....getting bored sitting around home here! Although, today has been a lovely day...took hubby and puppy to the dam to see how high the water was, we ate lunch in the car, then took a stroll across the swinging bridge, and played in the field on the other side...

It was a nice time....63 degrees today!

Specializes in Critical Care / Psychiatry.

I'm dreading going back on the 25th. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm LOVING my break and I'm just trying to hang in there and drag my butt back to school this semester. Argh. :(

I am one of the LPN's just joining in at our school. We started with Mental Health. After all we have been taught and then they say "You do not touch the patient." We are all looking at each other thinking this is so opposite of what we were taught. And so many assignments already. We oriented at the Mental Health facility.
