Ok little game. There was a thread started by someone having surgery today and someone stated the last and first thing they heard with anesthesia, so I figured it would be a fun little thread!

I'll go first!

Lap Chole

"Ok feel the edge of the bed here, ok good. Now this side. Do you feel centered?"

nod

CRNA "I am going to push a little medici..."

oxygen off

eyes open

"Ok good, I am going to get you some milk and grahms, then I just need you to pee"

My anesthesiologist came to visit me later and said I did nothing but yammer on when they reversed me about not getting to count backwards :) Thank god it was that and not something goofy about my doc! My mom was so paranoid that she had said something silly during her lap appy that she was more concerned about that on the follow up appointment than the checkup!

Post your stories!

When I had my ortho surgery

Did you just make fun of the size of IV cannula I've put in, now that's not clever is it...........................

When I woke up

"Don't do that"

me: Have I been naughty"

nurses: giggling (from all of the recovery nurses) oh yes but your awake now so I guess it'll stop now :D

apparently I had been trying to stand on the trolley when I needed to be non weight bearing

I don't remember the last thing I heard or said, although I's guess it was "10"

The first thing I said was "What took so long?"

(lap chole that was pretty bad and almost went open, but the surgeon got through it)

I was having my wisdom teeth pulled. They were impacted, so I had to have general anesthesia. The oral surgeon and I were chatting about my job, and as he started pushing the drugs he asked "So do you save or spend your paycheck?" I replied "I spend it like a good little capitalist" and then I was out! I don't remember the first thing I heard when I woke up from that one.

Anesthesia: "I'll just wait till you're out before I put the really big needle in." We already were joking around, so no worries! Later on awakening... "No, no, keep the oxygen on, gotta stay in bed!" I was mortified that I was doing this as soon as I was aware.

Before procedure: I remember" i am going to start your IV now".... out.

During: I remember " I think she is waking up...." out again

After: " She looks so peaceful sleeping" ( I could hear for what seemed like a while before I opened my eyes.

I had a septoplasty done in day surgery at the hospital I worked in. The surgeon, who I knew well, came in with a mischievous smirk on his face. He said "Are you ready to do this?" I replied, "Let's do it." He turned to the anesthesiologist and said "Okay, open 'er up!" The room tilted and the next thing I remember is the recovery room.

last thing i heard (as the crna is pushing a 10cc syringe full of milky white stuff): "do you know what propofol is?"

first thing i heard: "and her husband's a nurse, too."

(apparently i was telling them everything i know about propofol.)

I knew there would be some great stories! It is funny how we get a little bit more sass because half the time we know the MD's/CRNA's/OR staff that are working on us all to well :)
