If you knew the ADON at a LTC facility was having a sexual relationship with one of the CNA's, are you obligated to report it?

Thank you. I wanted to be sure I wasn't breaking any rules by having knowledge and not saying anything.

Unless it affects patient care because it's happening when the CNA should be working, MYOB.

Report it to whom, and for what? Unless that CNA is about to be promoted to Grand Poobah because of said relationship ... and even then, who's going to do something about it, when, as others said, they're consenting adults. (I'm assuming the CNA is an adult...?).

At one workplace the DON was having an affair with the LVN she had working as the night shift house supervisor. When he showed pictures of his beautiful children and wife, people would tsk, tsk behind his back. I don't know who would have reported this behavior to the DON's husband, as he was conveniently living in the Philippines with, I imagine, at least some of her four children. Then there was the LVN who would go to the parking lot to have sex with coworkers during night shift. The other nurses covered her residents while she was engaged in her recreation, so I guess nobody saw fit to report that either. Plenty around, if you just look for it. What you do about it is up to you.

I'd only report it if the CNA is a minor.

Or maybe since this was an apparently difficult situation to OP, they felt the need to ask in a forum they perhaps were already lurking on, and knew they would get responses to? What would they get out of tricking people on this thread?

No, this topic isn't interesting enough for popcorn. I'm gonna save my calories for wine.

If the adults are both consenting and there's no power issues at play (CNA getting favors or threats relating to the workplace) and the "play" isn't impacting either party's job performance, then there's no issue at all.
If the relationship is not between consenting adults (particularly if workplace threats are involved) then either law enforcement or an appropriate labor board may need to become involved and the process for making that happen could be a bit different from state to state.

Just to clarify, assuming that the CNA reports to this ADON, it is a remarkably inappropriate relationship, and the ADON is, by definition, exploiting the CNA subordinate. I don't want to leave the impression that I think the situation is acceptable. But, again, IMO, you have nothing at all to gain by getting involved. Karma has a way of taking care of these things without any outside assistance. :)
