For Fun--Kudos 2 Me...The "toot your own horn" thread

Hi, anyone want to brag a bit? After all, I think we deserve it.

I thought it would be fun to share some of our victories and things we think we should be patted on the back for.

Here's mine....I passed my first skills test this week and got a 100 on our first quiz in Fundamentals which I am soooo proud of because, as everyone knows, nursing tests are different than any other tests, you have to learn to think differently. You have to learn to think like a nurse, and WOOHOO, I DID IT!

I didn't do as well as I would have liked to on my blood pressure checkoff today (although I did pass) but I got a 96% on my Fundamentals exam today! :yeah: After being stuck in bed with the flu all weekend barely able to study, I was pleasantly surprised.

I was the first of our 15 students to get 2 patients at clinical :)

I got an A on my first Nursing exam of my 1st sem in Nursing school!! So happy I started off the semester off with a great grade!

great thread guys! i love the energy and excitement...my kudos? im a Senior:yeah:, ,whoo-hooo!

Since I don't ever acknowledge my accomplishments to my friends or family...let me just take a minute to say something here :)

:nurse:

I am the same way--I don't want to come off like a big jerk, so I keep my accomplishments to myself. However....since there is a whole thread dedicated to this topic, I do believe I will take this opportunity to "toot my own horn".

I have taken a full-time course load and summer school each summer for the past two years, had my husband gone for a deployment while I was left to take care of the kiddos (4 and 7 year olds), and I have a 3.98 GPA thus far--all A's and 1 A-. I graduate in May and I hope to maintain my grades going into my final 3 classes. Oh, and as a side note, an A at my school is a 96% or above, which is darn hard to accomplish, let me tell ya!

There. I feel better now. :)

Not focusing on the fact that I need to re-do my BP checkoff....

I got 93% on my first Foundations Exam!!! And I'm pulling a 94% on my lab quizzes so far. I love this thread. I don't like to talk about my accomplishments in class, although I do talk about my failures (BP checkoff today!!!) so it's great to share our successes without feeling like we are bragging :)

Rock on student nurses!!

Yep, it's 96%. An A- is a 93-95%, and the cut off for failing a class is 84%. It's tough! :)

Wow, that's intense!

For us, an A=90-100%, B+=86-89.9%, B=82-85.9%, C+=78-81.9%, C=75-77.9% and F=

I was thinking the same thing as the other poster but when you put it this way, it's the same at my school because we don't have + or -, you either get an A, B or C and to get an A you need a 93 or 94% (I can never remember which one it is) below that it's a B, not a B+ just a B and Below 85% is a C. Our cut off though is 77% 77-84 is a C.

It really sucks, I would rather have plus and minus. They did at my previous school and all my grades transferred funky and against me with my current schools system of simply A,B or C. If I had a 3.7 in a class, it transferred over as a 3.0 :( When it comes to points and how they enter it on your transcripts, it's 4.0-3.0 or 2.0. There is no in between.

here is mine:

Working full time about 48 hours per week, I graduated nursing school with a 3.8 GPA, High Honors, President's list, Dean's list, Leadership distiction, and passed the Nclex first time with 75 questions, in 1 hour I was done!!!

Lotsa will power to get there, lots of tears, lots of jitters (from the caffeine), Great support by my dad, uncle, God and an Angel (a live one!!! they exist!) made it possible for me to achieve this all.

If I had to go through it all again... I would in a heart beat!!!

Strive for your best, be prepared for the worse... In life we have to be "walking metamorphosis " changing and getting adapted to whatever is thrown on our way!

I want to be like you when I grow up, I see there's no excuse for anyone to not strive and go above & beyond in Nursing school! I passed my 1st pharm test last week with an 85!...I was upset at first as this is barely a B in my program, but i realized its the first exam & I need to show so pride in my work...Thanks for this thread!
