Hi, anyone want to brag a bit? After all, I think we deserve it.
I thought it would be fun to share some of our victories and things we think we should be patted on the back for.
Here's mine....I passed my first skills test this week and got a 100 on our first quiz in Fundamentals which I am soooo proud of because, as everyone knows, nursing tests are different than any other tests, you have to learn to think differently. You have to learn to think like a nurse, and WOOHOO, I DID IT!
Isn't this fun? It's great to hear so many positive stories and triumphs. As a couple of people have stated before, it helps to stay positive, it turns a good days into a TERRIFIC day, and makes the terrifying days seem much, much easier. I guess what I'm trying to say is keep your head held high, don't dwell on the negative stuff like a bad grade...let it go, get over it and remember the times you rocked it!!! Nice work everyone!
Congrats everyone !
I recently had to retake a subject because I failed the medication calculation exam (which you have to get 100% on) for it. Today, after studying my butt off for weeks...I did it, I got 100% !!
For someone who is atrocious at maths I can't believe I finally passed. I had to stare at my result for ages because I just couldn't believe it !!
here is mine:
Working full time about 48 hours per week, I graduated nursing school with a 3.8 GPA, High Honors, President's list, Dean's list, Leadership distiction, and passed the Nclex first time with 75 questions, in 1 hour I was done!!!
Lotsa will power to get there, lots of tears, lots of jitters (from the caffeine), Great support by my dad, uncle, God and an Angel (a live one!!! they exist!) made it possible for me to achieve this all.
If I had to go through it all again... I would in a heart beat!!!
Strive for your best, be prepared for the worse... In life we have to be "walking metamorphosis " changing and getting adapted to whatever is thrown on our way!
*bumps!* Me likey happy threads!
I had a kickass day on my first 12 hr clinical yesterday. It was our first one, and once the initial "oh crap, what do I have due now??!!" phase went away, I was digging it. Our instructor said for the first week, we all did really well. This is the first time we were given so much autonomy with our clinical time so it really helped me realize how important time management is to having a good day.
I also realized that doing 12s on days vs nights is a whole new animal. I do PM shifts all the time and I'm fine. AM shifts....not so much. At about 1630 my body was going "you're joking right?" But with the help of a giant iced tea I made it!
Great stuff everybody!! I'm only in my second week of Fundamentals/Lab but I'm happy to report that I passed my Baseline Assessment check off on the first try! I refused to get so nervous that I would fail! Also, I have an average of 90% on my quizzes in Lab. I have my first theory exam on Monday so I'd better get off of here and start studying!!
Keep up the great work everybody!!
I don't have any grades to report yet. We just had out first test today. I didn't get a chance to look at the key, but from others are saying about how much they missed, it makes me nervous. I know I got at least 2 wrong out of 65. First day of clinicals this week too, so I don't know how my paperwork went. I'm sitting in the dark here!
On the upside, I'm getting inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society Tuesday night. Woo-hoo for being in the top 10% of juniors and seniors in the whole university! How much longer will my 3.87 GPA last? Who knows?
