"My grandmother's cousin's niece has been crying for two weeks straight and now has a rash on her whole body. Her temperature is 103 degrees and she's been having trouble breathing. Please help! We can't go to the ER because we have a $30 copay and the doctor's office is closed for the weekend. Does she have measles? Or cancer? Or lupus? DON'T DELETE. I'm not asking for medical advice. Just general information. Should I give her some co enzyme q10?"
I hate the "I'm a new grad and I hate nursing/can't do this/feel like the worst nurse ever" threads, not because they're annoying but because I just went through this myself. I wish schools and hospitals softened the blow on this transition from student nurse to actual nurse.

They used to. How? We did a ton of clinical, in addition to didactic. Back in the day, nursing graduates had so much experience during their nursing program that the transition from student to nurse was less jarring.
Now we have nurses who have never inserted an IV, a foley, don't know how to delegate, etc.

I need to interview a nurse. Never mind that I haven't even tried talking to a nurse in person, just type out some answers to all these questions I need to ask.
