What general discussion topic on allnurses do you get the most annoyed at?
For example: My pet-peeve is the "I hate working the floor. What cushy nursing jobs are there that do not require any real work?"
How would you like to respond to these topics?
For example: I would like to respond "Quit being lazy, put your time in, and develop into a stronger nurse before venturing out."
Without being specific enough to identify anyone, please contribute with your thoughts about topics that annoy you the most.
Please do not insult, demean, or disparage anyone. After all- at allnurses we are allfriends.
The funny thing is, if the moderators/owners/PTB of AN set up some stricter entrance rules, some kind of introductory posting criteria (common for many boards, not crazy/unheard of), or ANY kind of system that somehow prevented the deluge of these annoying posts, it wouldn't be so pervasive. And I know to simply skip past them, yes that is an option I exercise often. But why not take some kind of action to change it?
Could it be because it's nurses running this site and it takes 302,827 meetings and 827 hours of discussion to change ANYTHING, EVER? :) Hahahaha
"I'm hiding in the linen closet, right now, so I can ask on an anonymous board, 'Did I just kill my patient? I just don't know what to doooooooo... I just gave my patient three times as much insulin as I should have. Will my patient be okay? What would you do? Heeeeeelp!!!!! I need answers ASAP!!!!'"
Yeah, these ones always scare me
My first thought is always, "Please tell me that you've at least informed someone of what's happened and have attempted to rectify the situation."
Next thought is, "Put your phone down and go take care of your patient!"
Oh my what a topic.....I am on board!! How about:
I can't work weekends or holidays. HELP!!!
I did not go into nursing to wipe butts!
I just graduated from a TOP nursing school program so why do I need to start as a new grad.
I have paid my dues and I deserve a day shift position. What area of nursing will let me work days.
"Nursing is slave labor!"Perhaps I am overly touchy when people equate nursing to slave labor, but I really want to leave the following reply:
"You are being paid for the work you do. Unlike a slave, you are free to quit your job. And guess what? Your former boss will not be sending the dogs or the posse to hunt you down when you stop showing up to work. You got it? Stop being dramatic!"
YES!!! :yellclap:
That while SLAVE reference is no bueno for me.
Last time I checked, whenever I quit, there wasn't a bounty, dogs coming after me, and I damn sure didn't need to move to Canada to get away-but then again, I am above the Mason-Dixon Line.
