I loved my pinning! It was lovely, and something that I got to share with all my fellow nursing students. Very special indeed...

Nope. By the time we graduated I was so sick of that place there wasn't enough money in the world to motivate me to put on white panty hose. I had a really nice dinner with family and a close friend and a few days later had lunch with a couple of my friends from the program who filled me in on the ceremony. They enjoyed it, it just wasn't my bag.

Absolutely! I worked hard for three years for that pin. I wear it everyday when I go to work at the hospital. It was really a very nice ceremony with tears of joy.

Yes I went to mine.....I chose not to walk with the entire college in May for the "BIG" graduation...the pinning was my graduation to me . Some of the people in my class didn't come...and it's too bad because they missed out on a really nice ceremony.....the only thing that killed our pinning ceremony was this one girl from another campus....the last one being done...she literally went on & on for like 25 minutes yapping....it kind of killed the whole thing when she kept going "in conclusion" about 5 times & not shutting up......to the point where the instructors were literally rolling their eyes behind their programs because a few of us saw it that were in perfect view of them behind their programs. We all wanted to shout to shut the heck up to her........other than that it was great....

Yes, I went and we all voted to just wear nice clothing and not uniforms. Although one woman did wear an old-fashioned nurse's uniform with cap - that was kind of cool.

The pinning was completely planned by the students - not a part of the campus at all. We asked a nursing instructor to speak - she gave a very moving AND SHORT talk. Three of our students played guitar and sang.

    I'm glad I went.

I am not a nurse yet, but will graduate in May of this year (hopefully :spin: ). I do plan on going to our pinning because I think it will be a nice time to reflect back on a LOOOONG 2 years with both my peers and the nursing professors. We also plan on having a slide show that will reflect our time together which will also be nice. I am looking forward to that and to wearing a cap and gown to receive my hard earned degree!

    Nope.

I didn't walk for graduation, nor did I go to my pinning ceremony. Some of my fellow students were kind of shocked by that because my mom was a nurse (had a stroke and heart attack and had to retire), the ones that knew just assumed I'd get pinned by her wearing her cap. But like one of the other posters above, once I was done I just wanted out of there.

I honestly never dreamed of being a nurse, it wasn't my life's goal and still isn't (I'm not sure what I want to be when I grow up), so I guess it just wasn't that important to me. But I think it is a beautiful tradition and hope schools never drop it.

Yes, I did! I worked very hard & waited alot of years for that ceremony! It was my time to shine & in all honesty I was very proud of myself. It's a memory that will live with me forever!

I will go to my pinning in May, but I won't go to the graduation. We don't get a choice what to wear for pinning, our white scrubs are a must.

Our school had nothing to do with it - in fact they discouraged it as unprofessional.

We the students saved money and planned it ourselves and everything was put up for a vote and the majority voted NOT to wear white uniforms.

The local hospitals sent large cakes with congrats.

The ceremony was held off-campus at the local Elks lodge on the river.

I went to my LPN pinning last May, and will certainly attend my RN pinning this May 12th. I literally shed a lot of sweat and tears for this. I wouldn't miss it for the world. It's also the last chance to celebrate with my classmates. We wore our whites, caps optional (see one of my gallery picts on my profile.) ......... my husband cried when I walked across that stage!

Same here! I went to both the pinning and the graduation.
