How to get a new grad job??

Hello, I am a recent RN grad with three years of LPN experience in psych. I have applied for multiple nurse residencies and been denied. All the hospitals I want to apply at are requesting at least six months acute care at the minimum. My questions is how do we met this requirement if we cant secure a nurse residency? I cannot seem to even get a MedSurg position without some previous experience. Another question I have, is psych considered acute care?? Would it qualify as the acute experience hospitals are requiring?? I really wanted to work in a field other than psych. Not necessarily MedSurg, but if it will get me in the door I would graciously work in that area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
